One of the most important times for Colombian tourism is yet to come, because Easter, in addition to being a season of pilgrimage and religious retreat, allows many families to get to know different parts of the country and enjoy the paradises offered by a territory such as Colombia, from National Natural Parks to Colombia, they point out several recommendations for travelers to take into account when visiting the different natural attractions that this country has.
The director of National Natural Parks in Colombia, Orlando Molano Pérez, invited all Colombians who wish to enjoy new experiences, to visit the different parks that the country has, throughout its geographical extension, however, stressed the need to take care of the environment and privilege these spaces.
In this case, Molano stressed that taking into account the contingency established by the pandemic, and the different risks that the natural areas guarded in the country faced, many of the parks were closed at the time, however, thanks to the measures established by the various competent entities, as of today, 21 parks are open that all Colombians can enjoy.
The director of Parks, stressed: “One of the most important seasons for all Colombians is approaching, and it is our Holy Week, right now we are all looking for contact with nature in open spaces, because our protected areas are the ideal place for all Colombians to enjoy nature; that's why We went from having 8 parks open to 21 parks open at this time, and all this is so that you can enjoy with your family, I invite you to know them, value them, but above all, protect them”.
Although some tourists consider that limited activities can be carried out in these parks, the established offer highlights cultural tourism, bird watching, hiking, mountaineering, turtle watching, whale watching, among others, clearly, these activities vary according to the season, since everything is subject to approximation of species and their predominance in natural territories.
Thanks to the significant diversity of flora and fauna in the country, spotting species can become a different opportunity for visitors, Molano said: “They can do multiple activities: hunting, diving, hiking, birdwatching, all in absolutely wonderful places, such as the National Natural Park Chingaza, who today I guarantee you can always see the deer and if you are very lucky, even the bear.” .
Regarding the campaign “One Use, Many Damages”, National Natural Parks of Colombia, highlighted the damage of plastics to the species that inhabit parks, in this case marine animals are mainly affected, since with the presence of containers, cutlery, cigarettes and other elements made of plastic, end up being seriously impacted, with regard to this problem, Orlando Molano explained: “We are working so that no Colombians take single-use plastic to our protected areas, I invite them to leave single-use bottles and carry their bottles, but, above all, I invite them to continue protecting our heritage natural and cultural life in Colombia”.
Chingaza, Cocuy, Corals of Rosario and San Bernardo, Cueva de los Guácharos, Gorgona, Los Nevados, Tayrona, Tinigua, Utría, Sierra de la Macarena, Los Flamencos, Galeras, Otún Quimbaya, Salamanca Island, Macuira, Los Colorados, Uramba - Bahia, Malaga Farallones de Cali, Tatama, Malpelo and Los Estoraques.
These provisions taken by the entity go hand in hand with resolution number 1558 of October 9, 2019, in which “the entry of single-use plastic into the areas of the park system is prohibited”, this resolution applies to both visitors and tourism service providers in these important sites. Utensils such as bags, containers, swabs, cups and other related items should be discarded when visiting these areas.
