Rosendo Serna, Minister of Education, said that tomorrow, April 6, students will return to face-to-face classes in Lima and Callao schools. This measure was agreed after private and state schools had to suspend their attention due to the stoppage of carriers and the curfew.
“There are classes tomorrow. What I want to point out is that children and young people have missed class hours and having missed two days of school, the return will also be face-to-face and the recovery of the day will also be face-to-face. What do you mean? If two days have been lost, we have to find the space to recover the two days because in the year we have to be 36 weeks old, “said to TV Peru, the official from outside Palacio de Gobierno.
When asked about whether the curfew would be extended in Lima and Callao, the head of Minedu, assured that “The decree is until 23:59 hours. We are seeing that the situation is calm, for example in the case of Huánuco, last night, the strike has already been lifted and today it is calm, there was no paralysis there.”
“It is necessary to recognize that this decision we have made, which is a bit strong, is to guarantee life before any setbacks we may have, is to guarantee the right to life. You make determinations according to the information you have. The situation is that tomorrow they have to return to classes, and as far as me is concerned, guaranteeing face-to-face participation,” he added.
As is recalled, the Regional Directorate of Education of Lima Provincias announced that face-to-face school classes were suspended in state and private schools on Monday, April 4 and Tuesday, April 5. The same measure was taken in the Callao region.
In a statement, the entity indicated that the measure is being taken to “safeguard the comprehensive safety and health” of students and teachers. He stressed that classes can be given virtually.
THE BEST DECISION WAS MADE, SAYS SERNA ON CURFEW
Education Minister Rosendo Serna did not hesitate to justify the action taken by the Pedro Castillo government after declaring a curfew in Lima and Callao. The head of Minedu assured that the specialized intelligence team reported that there were going to be abuses and violent acts in the capital and first port.
“The reason is that there have been intelligence reports regarding a whole plan to generate excesses and that this contrasted with information they had from their own leaders, attached to the popular movement, in the sense that this was being organized and because it points to a sector of, let's say, of characters who want to generate instability, and that is why in an emergency meeting it is that ministers have convened ourselves and this decision of immobility has been taken,” he said in Exitosa.
When asked if he could give information on who would be behind the organization of these looting that has alarmed the general population, he added that such information cannot be revealed.
“I couldn't identify them, but those characters are presumed to be linked to generating chaos and not having a certain political and partisan orientation, and they only have certain interests. I am not going to venture into pointing with my own name, but the population knows how the issues have been handled since July 28, 2021. Those who have been permanently interested in hindering and generating the situation of instability,” he said.
“The issue of promoting situations that allow ungovernability. The point is that we must understand that in an electoral process there are winners and losers and within that framework there is a need for collaboration with the government that enters. Professor Pedro Castillo has shown a different situation before the media [...] A decision had to be made that would allow us to guarantee, and protect the lives of citizens,” he added.
