Given the demonstrations of transport unions over the past few days, the Executive and the Legislative have announced the first joint attempts to end the crisis caused by the rise of prices of various products. The National Dialogue Initiative of the Board of Spokespersons of the Congress, but the most recent update points out that the president Pedro Castillo has invited the working group and the President of Parliament, María del Carmen Alva, to hold the meeting at the Government Palace.
The letter sent by the secretary general of the presidential office, Jorge Alva, was addressed to the president of the Congress and states that the invitation is being extended for tomorrow, April 5 at 8:00 a.m. in order to coordinate priority issues for the country. The document also notes that Aníbal Torres, president of the Council of Ministers, will also be present at the meeting.
However, hours earlier, Congress had already sent an invitation to President Pedro Castillo to schedule a meeting at 3:00 p.m. “I am pleased to write to you to inform you that, in accordance with the authorization received by the Plenary of Congress, the Board of Spokespersons agreed to invite you, together with the Ministers of portfolios of Economy and Finance, Transport and Communications, Energy and Mines, Agricultural Development and Irrigation and the Interior, to a face-to-face meeting with the Presiding Officers, the spokespersons of parliamentary groups and representatives of the non-grouped congressmen”, reads in the letter addressed to the head of state.
PERSIST ON INVITATION
Given the double invitation between the two branches of government, María del Carmen Alva, through the senior official of the Congress, reiterated her invitation to the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, to hold the meeting in the face of the national crisis at 3.00 pm. Government.
“(The invitation to the president), a fact that was previously announced by the President of the Congress in plenary session, in this regard, the content of the invitation contained in the document referred to in the previous paragraph is reiterated”, the letter sent by the senior officer of the Congress to the Secretary General of Palacio, Jorge Alva, reads. April 4 was the day when the protests of transporters were radicalized, leading to looting in some areas of the country, as well as clashes between the police and protesters. “IPYS condemns these violent acts against journalists for seriously affecting their work in circumstances where the press is crucial to learn facts of relevant public interest. It also demands an immediate response from the National Police to identify those responsible for the attacks. Finally, it asks the authorities to provide the necessary guarantees for the safety of the journalists who are covering the protests”, was Ipys's position after hearing the above-mentioned cases where the theft of work materials and personal belongings of the men and women of the press was recorded.
