On the occasion of the Vallenata Legend Festival they ask to strengthen the vaccination plan in Valledupar

The Office of the Attorney General of the Nation asked the mayor's office of the capital of Cesar to implement a strategy to immunize the largest number of citizens before the important celebration

Ending the previous year, the Vallenata Legend Festival Foundation announced that the 55th version of this important event will take place from April 26 to 30, 2022, having the connotation of King of Kings and the tribute to Jorge Oñate, 'La Leyenda'.

In view of this event, the Attorney General's Office urged the mayor of Valledupar, Mello Castro González, to strengthen the vaccination plan in the capital of Cesar.

The Public Ministry asked the local president to strengthen epidemiological surveillance measures to achieve coverage of 70% of those vaccinated with a complete scheme against covid-19, before the celebration of the 55th version of the Vallenata Legend Festival that is getting closer and closer.

This request was made following a surveillance process carried out by the supervisory body, in the midst of measures that seek to prevent infections from increasing again in the national territory.

In addition, the preventive action seeks to ensure that Valledupar reaches the percentage of vaccinated population established by the national government to be able to circulate in open spaces without requiring the use of a mask. Percentage at which the capital of Cesar has not yet reached, so this biosecurity measure remains mandatory in all areas of that territory.

The Attorney General's Office specified that the request made does not imply endorsement, co-administration or interference in the management of the mayor's office.

Tribute to Jorge Oñate in the 55th version of the Vallenata Legend Festival

“The festival begins, they came to invite me; the provincials who study with me are leaving. Yesterday afternoon when they returned, I preferred to refuse, so as not to have to trust anyone with my motives”, says Silvio Brito in the song 'Sentimental Ausence', the same one that has become an anthem of the Vallenata Legend Festival which, in its 55th edition, will pay tribute to Jorge Oñate.

After the death of the 'Goldfinch of America' was announced on February 28, 2021, the festival's founding decreed that, in its next edition, it would be honored for its contributions to vallenato music with a total of 50 productions made throughout his artistic career.

One of these recognitions will be seen in the Rey de Reyes competition, where the postulates will have to perform a song recorded by Oñate, who just honored the most important event of box, guacharaca and accordion music in the world: 'Festival Vallenato', was called the album he released in 1969 in the company of the accordion player Emilio Oviedo .

'Cultural Hermitage', was the last album recorded by the so-called 'Nightingale del Cesar' in 2015, under the accordion of Álvaro López, crowned King of Kings and who alongside Diomedes Díaz in his latest musical works.
