In Mexico, a reality show is taking place that is stealing the attention of the international public, it is 'Tu Cara Me Suena', a program in which several public figures are preparing to imitate famous singers in voice and appearance. In the most recent episode, it was surprising that the winner of the gala was actress Sherlyn González, imitating in a 'perfect' way, according to the juries, the Colombian singer Camilo.
The actress faced Kika Edgar, as 'Mon Laferte'; Manny Cruz, as 'Marc Anthony'; and Ninel Conde, as 'Jennifer Lopez'. However, González was the one who made the most impact with her presentation when she performed 'Ropa Cara' with a particular outfit worn by the Colombian, barefoot and wearing a fake mustache.
In addition to the physical resemblance she achieved, the juries highlighted the voice of the actress, who behind the scenes revealed that the coaches' advice was to “take advantage of my female voice to reach Camilo's tone”. After winning that night, the Mexican actress was a guest on Univision's 'Despierta América' program and defined her performance as “pure magic”.
The actress was the first to represent an artist from another genre and pointed out in dialogue with 'PulsoPop' that she was glad it was with Camilo, as he is an artist she admires and listens to a lot:
González posted his presentation on his Instagram account and the followers of the Colombian were quick to arrive. “I think he even did it better than Camilo himself”; “I loved her! He made it identical to camilo”; among others were the comments, and several have also labeled the artist to see his imitator.
The performance won the praise of the judges (Eden Muñoz, Victor Manuelle, Charytin and coach Angelica Vale), who declared Gonzalez the winner of the night, which represented a financial prize for Teletón USA, the organization that the actress represents on the show.
However, this excellent presentation by the Mexican came after one in which it received quite a lot of criticism. Coincidentally, at the first gala the Mexican had to imitate fellow Colombian Karol G, but in this case the juries considered that her Mexican voice and accent stood out.
“Singing and dancing is difficult, the randomizer (tool chosen by the artists to imitate) was strong this week with you, which is the first, because it is not easy to sing and dance at the same time... I listened to you very Sherlyn many times, but it's the first week, nothing happens,” said the coach; however González vindicated himself with his second presentation, again with a Colombian artist.
In an interview with 'El Diario NY' the Mexican actress insisted that “Camilo is in charge of much of the romantic soundtrack between me and my son, not 'Ropa Cara', but there are so many songs. I think if there is something nice about Camilo, it is that he sings to love, he is someone who I listen to a lot, and I don't know if it happens to you but there are people like you love even if you don't know them”. In addition, he pointed out that the most difficult thing was to imitate the singer's accent.
In addition, the actress revealed that for a next episode she would like to imitate another Colombian woman who she admires a lot, it's Shakira.
