Through his Twitter account, Martín Santos, son of former President Juan Manuel Santos, posted a message in which, without mentioning Senator María Fernanda Cabal, he referred to the reception of the gunman at his campaign event in Cali, to which she indicated as inheritance from her father's thief.
It should be noted that, in recent months, while campaigning for the Presidency, one of Senator María Fernanda's events in Cali was attended by Andrés Escobar, a man who in the middle of the National Strike handled a firearm in the Ciudad Jardín sector, south of the capital of the Valley.
Santos's tweet was: “That's what happens when a senator welcomes a gunman at her campaign event in Cali: Empowering armed civilians who want to believe they're a state.”
It should be noted that, the congresswoman and former presidential candidate, María Fernanda, has been in favor of legalizing the carrying of arms in Colombia.
Within weeks of the new election days in the country to elect the new Colombian president, tension in the political landscape increases. María Fernanda Cabal, one of the greatest feuds of Gustavo Petro, a favorite candidate for the head of state according to the polls, released an acid comment against the leader of Human Colombia. After Rodrigo Londoño, recognized as' Timochenko ', publicly expressed his support for the candidacy of the politician who intends to take over the position held today by Iván Duque.
“Petro count on us to make Colombia a World Power for Life,” said the leader of the extinct FARC guerrilla and president of the Commons Party on Twitter. For the former guerrilla, Petro and his government plan “focuses on the violence suffered by historically marginalized sectors. It gives prominence to women, rural communities and the working class of the country.”
Londoño highlights and celebrates “Gustavo Petro's manifest commitment to work towards a complete peace for Colombia, starting with the comprehensive implementation of the Peace Agreement between the disappeared FARC-EP and the Colombian State. Peace is the real name of social justice.”
Cabal did not like Timochenko's support for Petro's campaign very much and, incidentally, he named one of the bloodiest criminals the country has ever had: Luis Alfredo Garavito. “We are waiting for Garavito from prison to support Gustavo Petro,” the senator wrote on her Twitter account where she has more than 300,000 followers.
This situation coincides with the multiple attacks of which the Historical Pact has been the victim. It is worth noting specific cases such as that of the Colombian singer Marbelle, who made a racist comment against Francia Márquez. “Poops and King Kong,” he wrote on his Twitter account. “Is it freedom of speech or xenophobia? Doesn't Uribism achieve anything more intellectually?” , questioned Gustavo Petro.
