In the early hours of Tuesday, suspected hit men perpetrated a bloody coup against elements of the National Guard, which left one element dejected. The events took place on Highway 57 in the municipality of Zaragoza in San Luis Potosí.
The police force was on the road on the San Luis-Querétaro section carrying out surveillance work, since hours earlier there had been reports of persecution against officials of the Ministry of Communications and Transport (STC). According to the state authorities, the assassins fired at close range at the elements, who, when they were overwhelmed with weapons and the number of gunmen, called for reinforcements. However, one of the agents had already died.
The local media Código San Luis reported that motorists and trailers traveling on the site reported the events through 911. The patrol in which the agents were traveling was left on a mound of earth with several beaten bullets.
