Guido Bellido after transport strike: “The way to solve it is the New Constitution”

Guido Bellido, former head of the PCM, spoke about the current crisis that our country is going through in the face of the carriers that originated since March 28. The ruling congressman assured that this social conflict can be resolved with a new “constitution”.

Through his Twitter account, the legislator of Peru Libre expressed his desire to have a new Political Constitution of Peru.

Along the same lines, Bellido made it clear that the clashes, looting, roadblocks and other conflicts taking place in various parts of the country have been caused by previous governments and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The only way to resolve the social conflict generated by previous governments and the pandemic, is a new Political Constitution. The opposition congressmen are taking advantage now and this will be their own political tomb,” he wrote.

MINISTER OF DEFENSE SPEAKS OUT ON TRANSPORT STOPPAGE IN LIMA AND REGIONS

The Minister of Defense, José Luis Gavidia, arrived this afternoon at Km 13.5 of the Central Highway to try to talk to the Protestants who abide by the strike of heavy cargo carriers called by the Union of Multimodal Transport Guilds of Peru (UGTRANM) for this April 4 and 5 nationwide.

It also called on the angry population to withdraw from the area peacefully. “This is the only place that was complicated in this area and we are reinforcing with another contingent of Army personnel to support our National Police. Those people were in the Santa Anita oval, which is already calm,” he said in statements to the press.

During his presence on this walkable highway, the protesters demanded him for the rise in fuel and the rise in the prices of basic necessities.

“Undoubtedly there is a demand from the population because fuels should be reduced today, since the Selective Consumption Tax has already been eliminated. The device has already been issued. I want entrepreneurs to be responsible, when fuels go up the next day it rises, but when they go down they say they have stock, they have to finish it. I hope that the taps entrepreneurs will be responsible so that they can help us solve the problems to that extent. I think this is a problem that we all need to solve,” he said.

On the other hand, the Minister of Defense said that the armed forces and the police are located in more than 90 strategic points in the capital to control the abuses that may occur during the marches. We are repositioning patrols to support them.”

Finally, Gavidia announced that the Central Highway is completely liberated, as well as Manchay. “We have talked to the population, they understood that this is not a way to protest, to interrupt traffic is to violate the rights of other citizens”.

For his part, the head of the Lima Police Region, PNP General José Zapata, said that as of 13:00 hours the Police have reported 46 detainees in various police stations in Metropolitan Lima, as well as in its four provinces.

He added that the Protestants were dispersed in Manchay, in the areas of North Lima, East and at Km 13.5 of the Central Highway. “With this we are ending and re-establishing the tracks.”
