Francia Márquez, Gustavo Petro's vice-presidential formula for the presidential elections, has denounced a third death threat in less than a month. This time she published on her Twitter social network the pamphlet announcing the threat to her and other politicians such as Gustavo Petro, Gustavo Bolivar, among others who were pigeonholed as “guerrillas”, as can be read in the publication.
On the letterhead of the “Black Eagles, capital bloc”, France said they “want to impose terror on Colombia”, while demanding guarantees to be able to carry out their political work now that they are campaigning for May 29, the voting day on which the first presidential round will take place.
This publication was made by Márquez last Monday, but this Tuesday, April 5, he called a press conference to raise his voice on this issue, and was also accompanied by his work team in Medellín, where he also set up his campaign headquarters.
There he spoke out against the threats he received and demanded that the President of the Republic, Iván Duque, provide the necessary guarantees to be able to “campaign with peace of mind”.
The environmental leader has gradually received support from different sectors of the country, being the only woman of African descent who has aspired to be the vice-president of Colombia and, among other things, to have a great chance of achieving it, taking into account the polls that revolve around the Colombian voting intention.
Francia Márquez arrives as one of the candidates closest to the people, but above all as one of the most important representatives for the black communities who see her as a relevant reference.
Meanwhile, his closest political contenders: Federico Gutiérrez and his vice-presidential formula Rodrigo Lara Sánchez, have risen in the polls, to the point of almost being on a par with Petro and France.
The race for the presidency increasingly leads some social and political sectors to join the ideas of each of the candidates, thus seeking to add more and more votes.
However, it seems that because of the threats, at least France and Petro should be cautious, while they also call on entities such as the IACHR Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, the Mission to Support the Peace Process and the Attorney General's Office to follow up on what happens with the threats.
So far, President Duque has not spoken about the fact, nor has his political rivals to reject the pamphlet that intimidates Francia Márquez and Gustavo Petro.
Meanwhile, Francia Márquez began her tour of the capital of Antioquia, visiting the territories and accompanying the populations while listening to their most important and urgent needs, thinking of being able to work on them on an eventual arrival at the Casa de Nariño.
In addition, the bars of Medellín have been seen up close, from which he received his support as he also shows on his social networks through a video.
