Colombian teams make their debut in Copa Libertadores, among them a historic one of them returns, Deportivo Cali, the sugar team despite not having won this cup in its history, has managed to reap its name thanks to the good presentations of the last century. On this occasion, he hosts Boca Juniors from Argentina, the historic gaucho club that wants to take the first shot in their debut as a visitor.

The match will take place at 7:30pm Colombia time at the Deportivo Cali stadium in the city of Palmira, although the capacity of this stage is not complete, the fans vibrate with the joy of seeing their team again in an international tournament after 6 years, after their passage in 2016 by Fernando 'El Pecoso' Castro.

The casualties with which the xeneize club arrives are sensitive, some are sanctioned and others will not play the match due to physical discomfort, such as the case of Pol Fernández, who has had a muscle problem in one of his twins, which conditioned him to travel to Colombian territory. On the other hand, Sebastián Villa, Marco Rojo, Carlos Izquierdoz, Cristian Pavón, Javier García and Diego González, players who have a long sanction as a result of the conflict against Atlético Mineiro, in the last edition of the Copa Libertadores.

For its part, Deportivo Cali seeks to find eternal glory, because after winning in December 2021, the start of the year for the vallecaucanos has been disappointing, achieving only 3 victories in 14 matches played, a situation that places him third to last in the tournament standings However, the conviction of the coaching staff and its players shows great hope in the face of the Copa Libertadores.

Taking into account Boca's last matches in the first division of Argentina, and as evidenced by the local press in the previous training sessions, the cast of Sebastián Battaglia would form like this:

Rossi, Advíncula, Zambrano, Avila, Fabra, Medina, Campuzano, Ramirez, Romero, Salvio and Benedetto.

For its part, Deportivo Cali in recent matches has tried to establish a single rhythm, taking into account that it has not found consistency in the containment zone in the midfield, so that Rafael Dudamel's nominated to face Boca, would be:

Acevedo, Gutierrez, Burdisso, Marsiglia, Mafla, Camargo, Congo, Velasco, Vazquez, Gutierrez and Gonzalez.

These two teams have a rather particular record between the two, although the matches played have been few, they have marked historical milestones due to different situations, including a rout and a disputed title.

In 1978 Deportivo Cali played its first Copa Libertadores final, in this case the sugar producers faced the bostero team, which was coming to play its third cup final. However, Cali was led by a historical Argentine football player, none other than Carlos Salvador Bilardo, the famous doctor who gave Argentina the 1986 World Cup by Diego Armando Maradona.

At that time, Boca drew the draw at paschal Guerrero, because the 0-0 left the match open, so that the emotions were completely played in La Bombonera in Buenos Aires, the blue and gold team ended up defeating Deportivo Cali 4-0, consecrating himself as champion of that decision and snatching the possibility of the title from the team colombian.

Meanwhile, in 2016 Cali returned to the international tournament, where they faced a strong group, consisting of Racing, Bolivar and Boca Juniors. The xeneizes were led by Guillermo Barros Schelotto, while the green team was led by 'El Pecoso' Castro, in this case, in the group stage Cali managed to get the zero-for-zero draw at the Palmaseca Stadium, however, the night fell apart when they visited Buenos Aires, because despite starting winning 2-0, the onslaught gaucha ended with a historic comeback to 6-2 in favor of Boca.
