Carlos Alberto Díaz Colmenares, 14, decided to take advantage of social networks, especially Tik Tok, to teach users about different issues in the field, a topic that is currently not so common and that doesn't have as much visibility. The followers of his account know him as 'El borrego', a nickname given to him by Andrés, one of his older brothers, a few years ago and in his space he has sought to deconstruct stereotypes that today have agriculture at risk in the country.
“At first my dad scolded us for videos, but because he works a lot and thought we were making joke videos. Then he realized that we were making important content, something more serious and positive. Now the whole family supports us much more and gives us the necessary help to make the videos,” the teenager told El Tiempo.
The minor's videos have had a big impact on social networks, including, he currently has 4.5 million Tik Tok followers and an average of 2.5 million likes per post. However, a few days ago there was a controversy around one of Carlos's videos, because in this one he said “If chickens eat their eggs here I have the solution for you”.
In the video of less than a minute, the young farmer explains that this could be due to a poor diet, so he suggests being aware that the concentrate is of good quality, give them legumes, seeds and calcium.
What Carlos said upset a woman of Argentine nationality, who appears on her network as Soy Velen and who has become popular for her vegan diet. So the woman shared her opinion and mentioned: “The chickens eat their eggs because they are theirs and not yours.”
The short comment, but with a substantive criticism, provoked several comments against the influencer, because the minor made its content to educate people about rural life and because it did not do so to offend anyone, while the reaction of the Argentine produced rejected because her reaction was against a minor and he answered him.
“We are going to respond to this video, because I don't like people supposing ugly things about my farm. First, my chickens came to my farm because somewhere else they couldn't have them and they were going to slaughter them, so I decided to receive them. Second, the eggs are from my chickens, but since they lay eggs every day, I'm not going to waste food and they don't eat them, so I sell them. Third, my chickens are my pets, so they will be on the farm until they die of old age and I am a vegetarian, I would not eat them,” noted “El Boreguito” and added that he makes these videos so that people can learn tips on how to have chickens better and that he will not let them go because they can be attacked by hunters.
In addition, many network users reproached the vegan attitude and asked for respect for the work of peasants and ways of thinking differently; even followers told their stories about vaganism and healthy eating.
