Coloring eggs with onion husks and nylon stockings

For the Easter table all kinds of hard-boiled eggs can be prepared without problems. If they are colored, they attract more attention. Techniques for coloring eggs with natural paints are becoming increasingly popular. That's good for the pocket and good for the environment.

Cooking eggs in a broth of onion husk, for example, they acquire a nice and natural dark brown color.

In addition, leaves and flowers with a fragment of nylon stocking can be adjusted to the eggs, which should be white, of course, so that they are decorated with attractive prints. Sabine Schulze, who has a cooking blog, ensures that the image is not blurred when the stockings are removed.

It works like this:

First, a large pot is filled with water, onion husks are placed inside and allowed to boil for about ten minutes. The time it boils and the number of shells will depend on whether the color of the broth is more or less intense and then that of the eggs.

meantime, flowers, such as daisies or dandelions, are tied on the eggs. “Keep in mind that flat flowers should be used, without bulk. I wouldn't use thick buttercups,” advises Schulze.

She fastens the selection of flowers and leaves with pieces of nylon stockings 10 to 20 centimeters and ties them up and down the egg. Once the eggs are covered and tied, they are cooked in the onion peel broth for about 10 minutes.

Then, the eggs are placed in a colander placed on a fountain and passed through cold water. After that, they are allowed to dry and the eggs are released from the stockings. Then they can take off the flowers and the impression they left will be seen.
