The vice-president and foreign minister, Marta Lucía Ramírez, is carrying out a visit to Ireland where she was present at the World Summit of the Diaspora, a space that was organized by the International Organization for Migration and the Government of that country, where a vision of progress was proposed to enable countries to generate links with their nationals abroad and good practices in the care of migrants.
“At the World Summit of Diaspora, in Ireland, I shared Colombia's experience in dealing with Venezuelan migration. I insisted on the need to deepen international cooperation in order to implement more efficient actions, under principles of co-responsibility and humanity,” said the Colombian vice president.
It was precisely where he referred to the regime of Nicolás Maduro and pointed out the serious violations of human rights that are taking place in the neighboring country of Colombia. In a post he shared on Twitter, he stated that Venezuela is experiencing a complex time due to the political and social crisis, which is why thousands of its citizens have decided to leave their country and try their luck elsewhere, such as in Colombia.
According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Colombia has given the greatest reception of Venezuelan refugees and migrants. They claim that at least 611,000 Venezuelan migrants have been welcomed into the country and at least 845,000 Colombians have returned from Venezuela.

Marta Lucía Ramírez stated in a post on her social networks that, “The Venezuelan people live in anxiety and uncertainty because of the violation of #DDHH, the lack of income and a dictatorship that withered democracy. Therefore, the solidarity of 🇨🇴 has been decisive in preventing a humanitarian tragedy of greater proportions. #GDSDublin”.
He added that, it has been demonstrated that diasporas are humanitarian actors and generators of development in host communities. In #GDSDublin, I expressed that we must prioritize integration and alternatives of life and sustainable development in the long term, in favor of the migrant population.”
On her visit to Ireland, the Colombian Deputy Minister and Foreign Minister stressed that, “Colombia was the first country in the region to contribute its experience to the Migration Network's repository of good practices and to present concrete commitments in financial contribution, public policy implementation and technical cooperation.”

He noted that, “Colombia and Ireland share bonds of friendship that have been strengthened in recent years. In a meeting with the President of Ireland (Michel D. Higgins), a great connoisseur of our country, we talked about cooperation, building #PazConLegalidad, promoting business ties and gender equity.”
“In the last 3 years, we opened embassies in Dublin and Bogotá, generating a deeper relationship of political dialogue and cooperation in key sectors such as education, innovation, agriculture, culture and #ComercioBilateral,” Vice President Marta Lucia Ramírez said on her Twitter account. Finally, he stated that the President of Ireland expressed his desire to continue to support peace legally.
“The President of #Irlanda, Michael D. Higgins, knows the stability of democracy in #Colombia and expressed his country's desire to continue to support the implementation of #PazConLegalidad and empowerment of rural women in our territory. Thank you! ”, Ramirez wrote on his social networks.
