The Attorney General's Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX) announced that an official identified as Christian “N” was linked to the trial on April 5.

According to official information, the man was prosecuted for his probable involvement in the commission of the crimes of abuse of authority and intentional injury, for events recorded in June 2018, in the streets of the Alvaro Obregon mayor's office.

As explained in a statement, in his capacity as a preventive police officer, the detainee allegedly assaulted a woman with a gotcha type airgun, resulting in qualified injuries to one eye, which resulted in loss of organ function.

According to the institution, during the initial hearing, the judge described the detention as legal and considered the formulation of an indictment submitted by the social representative of the Office of the Prosecutor for the Investigation of Crimes Committed by Public Servants, with which to determine as a precautionary measure informal pre-trial detention, so that the accused will remain in the Northern Men's Remand Prison.

It should be added that on the same day, the plenary session of the Council of Honor and Justice of the Investigative Police (PDI) of the Attorney General of Justice of Mexico City (FGJCDMX) also determined the temporary suspension of one of its active elements.

According to the report of the Prosecutor's Office, it is presumed that the agent attached to the counterpart Territorial Investigation institution in Tlalpan, had declared that he had suffered the theft of his institutional property, including a patrol car.

However, later, under the investigations carried out by the Mexico City Security Services, it was possible to verify that the information was false, since both the unit and the allegedly stolen goods were presented to the Public Prosecutor's Office agent as abandoned.

In 2020, it was revealed, based on the results of the Gallup (US data and analysis company) survey, that Mexico is the second country where a large number of the population feels less safe and most distrustful of the police, in that year it fell behind Venezuela in the index of distrust of police elements.

It should be added that in another area, and according to the National Urban Public Security Survey (ENSU), in 2021, 14.2% of crime victims decided not to report due to mistrust of the authorities and another 3.5% due to hostile attitudes on the part of them.

So far in 2022 alone, more than a dozen public officials have already been prosecuted in Mexico City, one of the most controversial cases being that of Cuauhtémoc mayor's office officials, including the head of the demarcation, Sandra Cuevas, for her alleged involvement in the crimes of aggravated gang robbery and abuse of authority to the detriment of two commanders of the Auxiliary Police of the Ministry of Citizen Security of Mexico City.

It should be noted that after being implemented as a reparatory measure, the mayor was released; however, she will not be able to leave Mexico City unless she reports it in a hearing to the same supervisory judge who granted the provisional suspension of proceedings for the crimes of abuse of authority and theft.
