Bivol warmed up the fight against Canelo Álvarez: “He is not invincible”

The current WBA champion considered that there is a possibility of being Saúl Álvarez's second defeat in his entire career. He left out that perception that exists in world boxing about tapatio and his undefeated record

A little more than a month before Saúl Canelo Álvarez's fight against Dmitry Bivol in the supermedians category, the reigning champion of the WBA (World Boxing Association) released a comment against what is believed to be the Mexican boxer.

Bivol was encouraged to launch the first opinions that heated up the meeting that will be held on Saturday, May 7. In an interview for the YouTube channel Fight Hub TV, Bivol stated that Saul is not invincible; although he maintains a remarkable record and a single defeat, Dmitry assured that he can succeed in his fight against Tapatio and be the second defeat in the Mexican's history.

The Russian boxer considered Alvarez to be an ordinary person, so he will not always have the title of undefeated and the time will come when he fails. Despite the fact that within international boxing he is seen as a difficult competitor to beat, Saul's rival pointed out the opposite. He noted that if you work on quality, you can achieve the feat of defeating the unified boxer in the 168 pounds.

This is how Bivol put it for Fight Hub TV:

And the fact is that the only defeat that Saul Alvarez has had was to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2013. In the end, the judges gave Mayweather the victory, as he dominated much of the fight and Canelo could do little to prevent it. In that year the Mexican's career had just begun and at that time he had the WBC (World Boxing Council) superwelter title and the WBA world crown equal in superwelter.

As the years went by, Saul perfected his technique and no longer experienced defeats. But for the 175 pound champion, his commitment to Alvarez is the opportunity to “risk” and be the one who defeats the top exponent of the supermedians for the first time.

However, Bivol pointed out that he must be careful and not trust himself as he assured that he will have in front of him the “best fighter” he has faced in his career as a professional boxer.

I have to risk, I will face the best boxer pound for pound. Obviously I will have my precautions, but I will take greater risks because in front of me I will have a better fighter than I have faced.”
