The second part of the final season of Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) finished airing last Sunday, April 3. After the episode credits, an announcement confirmed that this would not be the last thing we would see in the anime and a third part will arrive in 2023 to end the story of Eren Jaeger and other characters who captivated the audience since the Japanese series debuted almost ten years ago.
It is recalled that the end of the original manga, created by Hajime Isayama, was already released in April 2021 and was harshly criticized by history buffs. Regarding what was seen in the most recent chapter and without taking into account what is happening in the manga, these are the most important questions that should be resolved by the conclusion that will be released next year.
The ultimate goal of Eren Jaeger... will it be fulfilled?
The protagonist of Shingeki no Kyojin activated the power of Rumble and summoned hundreds of large titans — hidden in the walls — to destroy everything outside Paradis Island. Its great purpose is to end all forms of life, that is, it will not be merciful to be able to save Eldia's future, end conflicts forever and bring the long-awaited peace. However, behind him is the Alliance, a formation of his former companions (Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Connie, Hanji and Levi) along with Marley's surviving people (Pieck, Reiner, Annie, Falco and Gabi). The final part of the fourth season will focus on this confrontation.
Can Mikasa not stand in the way of the battle against Eren?
In chapter 85, Annie Leonhart (the Female Titan) asked Mikasa Ackerman if she would really allow him to kill Eren after all. On the other hand, in '86, a conversation between him and his brother, Zeke Jaeger, is included, in which he reaffirms that the Ackermans have a kind of vow of loyalty to a boss or person they consider to be the most important in their lives. For this reason, he is believed to be fully confident that he will not be confronted by his old friend and adopted sister, but nothing is certain.
Una muerte inevitable
It is clear that the end of this anime will end with the death of a character to offer a much more dramatic outcome and it is believed that it will be Eren. On severe occasions, the Jaegerista leader has indicated that he has very little time left to live, so he will use it to solve the problems of humanity. After activating the Rumble and reaching Marley to destroy it, his friends must kill him to stop him from continuing this catastrophe. It is not ruled out that more characters may die along the way.
The future of Paradis Island
When Eren carried out this plan, his goal was to bring peace to Paradis Island and to exterminate any external threat to end the long conflict between the nations of Eldia and Marley. For centuries, the former has lived enclosed within walls to protect itself from the titans, and now these have been completely demolished since the protagonist activated the Rumble, although it also left destruction in his own native nation. From now on, the Eldian population will be able to live without walls and with greater access to development. Will he be able to make as much progress as Marley? With the infiltration of the soldiers shown at the end of the third part, it was shown that citizens would be amazed at all the technological advances that were achieved on the other side of the sea.
What will happen to the titans?
Perhaps the most important question of Shingeki no Kyojin is the future of the titans, because Ymir's lineage would no longer be necessary in a world without wars or conflicts. On the other hand, there is a character who has just started as a titan, Falco, and who will have a very short life despite being a child because of the power he holds within him. Can Eren end the titans once and for all?
The third and final part of season four will air in 2023. All episodes can currently be watched through the Crunchyroll platform.
