On Monday morning, a group of protesters from the Transport Union, Ica, blocked some sections of the Pan-American South, at kilometer 278. These measures of force are repeated in some other parts of the country where there is a partial stoppage of carriers which are demanding the increase in fuel prices and tolls. This is despite the agreements signed on Sunday night between the Executive Branch and the main freight forwarders guilds. Farmers were added to these protests.

During the early morning of Monday, protesters tried to close the Pan-American South at various times. The police managed to clear the area at times, but after some clashes, between kilometer 272 (beginning of Chinatown) and 281, the road ended up being blocked.

ROUTES TAKEN

In the morning, the road was completely taken and the passage was not allowed. Buses with passengers and trucks were stranded on the road since 3 in the morning. The carriers demanded, among other things, that the exemption from IGV on fuel should also be for gasoline of more than 90 octane, which is what they use for heavy vehicles.

Some passengers expressed their discomfort at not being able to travel freely, as they even indicated that they were traveling to Lima to follow health treatments.

Meanwhile, at kilometer 300, at the entrance to the city of Ica, a blockage with burning tires was also reported. About 300 agrarian demonstrators from the Agroexport Workers' Front took the road in support of the transport strike. Until 7 in the morning, there was no police presence in the area.

SUSPEND CLASSES AT ICA

The Regional Directorate of Education of Ica decided to suspend, on Sunday evening, face-to-face classes in schools in the provinces of Pisco and Ica. This is to safeguard the integrity of students and teachers. The suspension of classes is for April 4 and 5, when the strike is also called.

During these days, classes are expected to be virtual.

ROBO A REPORTERA

At 7 in the morning, all her belongings and the press crew of a TV Peru reporter covering the strike at kilometer 300 in Ica were reported stolen.

According to a journalist from América TV, he said that among the protesters there was a group in a state of intoxication that took advantage of circumstances to commit vandalism.

On the other hand, a minimarket was looted in the Alamo area.

In addition, he also indicated that the Police decided not to intervene for the time being, as the demonstrators, who numbered about 600, outnumbered the number of the troops.
