Calculations and more calculations for Shingeki no Kyojin fans: “Will you have a film to close the series or if new episodes are coming?” This is how it was all 2022 until confirmation arrived: the fourth and final season will have a third part in 2023. The announcement came hours before the premiere of the last episode with video and official poster.

Crunchyroll released episode 87 of Attack on Titan (also postponed a week) but hours earlier he confirmed that it will not be a movie (although it could be after part 3) that will give continuity to the last episode. Rumors for weeks, and again, fans of the series immersed in calculations since what was left of the story did not fall into a single chapter (by the way, of a totally demanding visual display for an anime). It will finally be a new batch of chapters to reach the end of this story.

The only thing that has been confirmed so far is that Shingeki's return will be in 2023. The animation studio MAPPA, today a beacon for the industry, did so through the series' official Twitter account along with a promotional image in which we can see Levi, Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Hange, Connie, Annie, Reiner, Falco and Gabi. Each and every one of them is inside the footprint of a titan.

This same image can be seen in the clip that the studio shared, also announcing the date of the third part of the final season of Shingeki no Kyojin. There we see how Eren Jaeger, in his transition from hero of history to the main villain, reunited his former companions with Marley's warriors to try to stop him and turn this group into the new protagonist of the series. This resignifies everything that has happened throughout the series and how each story has a point of view.

For the next few chapters, and as seen in the last scene of chapter 87, the advance of the Colossal Titans has no possible enemy. Eren controls the Founder Titan with the aim of destroying the rest of the world and the union of the warriors on one side and on the other side of the wall will do their best to stop it. That will be the center of the story in the last batch of chapters.

Whether there will be a film or not, it will be a matter of waiting for the last episode of the next batch to be released in 2023.
