This Sunday will be held the Carrera Verde Colombia in its 7th edition in Bogotá, an athletic competition that contributes to the mitigation of climate change through the ecological restoration of the country's Andean and High Andean forests.
The event will be held in the Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park, in which it invites runners, companies, diplomatic bodies, educational institutions and NGOs, among others, to join this cause in planting more than 10,000 trees, in this edition of the race. This time it is endorsed with Gold Inspire certification from the Council for Responsible Sports of the United States, a seal that recognizes the work of those sporting events that are inspiring and environmentally responsible.
For this event, the Ministry of Mobility indicated the roads that will be closed and the alternatives that drivers have. The race will start at the Plaza de Eventos of the Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park on Carrera 60 (Western Road) to the South and will end at the entrance to the park on Calle 53 with race 60.
The roads that will be closed from 8:30am are race 60 between 63 Avenue and 26 Street Avenue, 53 Street Avenue between Carrera 60 Avenue and Carrera 68 Avenue, 44 Street between Carrera 60 Avenue and Carrera 50 Avenue, Race 66A between 42nd Street and 53th Street. According to the entity, the passage will be re-established at 10:30 a.m.
Authorized detours are:
• Users traveling North-South on Carrera 60 Avenue, should take Av. Calle 63 al Oriente - Avenue Carrera 50 al Sur.
• In the direction East - West on Calle 63 Avenue and wish to take Carrera 60 Avenue to the South, you must take Carrera 50 Avenue to the South.
• From East - West on Calle 63 Avenue and wish to take Carrera 60 Avenue to the South, you must continue along Calle 63 al Occidente - Carrera 70 Avenue (Rojas Avenue) south or Boyacá Avenue to the South.
• From South - North on Carrera 68 Avenue and wish to take Calle 53 to Oriente Avenue, take Calle 63 al Oriente.
• D Oriente - Occidente on Calle 53 Avenue, take Carrera 60 Avenue to the North and 63 Street to the West.
The Secretariat also gives some recommendations for those attending this activity, it is recommended to arrive at the site of completion preferably in SITP or Transmilenio; it is suggested to avoid using private vehicles. In addition, it invites you to follow the instructions of the Transit Authority, staff of the organization and the District Secretariat for Mobility on the affected roads in order to minimize the impact that the activity may have on the city of Bogotá.
Likewise, to attend to the signage that the organization of the event will have to inform the road closures and diversions to be carried out for the development of the activity and to make use of non-motorized means of transport such as bicycles and on foot, as well as mass transport and public transport.
For her part, Clara Solano, executive director of Fundación Natura, stated that “Fundación Natura's commitment to the Green Race Colombia is to contribute to the transformation of society's link with nature, mitigating the impacts generated by global environmental problems such as climate change and deforestation, to through the restoration of the country's forests, thus bringing ecosystems back to their initial state before being operated on. In addition to running, each athlete has the opportunity to live the experience of planting native trees in one of the Biological Reserves that the Natura Foundation manages, for example in Encenillo, located in Guasca, Cundinamarca; forests that in the past were limestone rock mines or in El Silencio, located in El Retiro, Antioquia, estates which were previously used for extensive livestock farming, and which today are restored forests that provide vital services for all living things.”
