Minsa: Nearly nine million people have not received the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine

Since April 1, it is mandatory for those over 18 years of age to present the vaccination card with the three doses to enter public or private premises.

The Ministry of Health (Minsa ) expressed concern about the low participation of Peruvians in the COVID-19 vaccination process. According to its director of immunizations, María Elena Martínez, nearly nine million people in the country have not applied the third dose of the vaccine.

The gap between those immunized with the booster dose and those with only two increases with the start of application of the fourth dose, which starts at the national level Monday, April 4. In addition, in the case of children it becomes more evident, since, of the 4.2 million children in the country, only slightly more than half have received the first dose.

It is worth mentioning that Minsa has been carrying out a 36-hour uninterrupted immunization day in Lima, which began this Saturday at 7:00 a.m. and will run until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, with the aim of bringing the population over 12 years old up to date on their vaccines against COVID-19.

FOURTH DOSE IN LIMA AND CALLAO

Starting today, Saturday, April 2, the application of the fourth dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 began in people over 70 years of age and with immunocompromise, who live in Lima and Callao.

“Who else should be vaccinated? Immunocompromised: in this case, people who have been transplanted and people with oncological problems, people with HIV; but it must also pass five months after the third dose. They should check (their vaccination card) and come,” Martinez said.

The inoculation of the fourth dose will be done with vaccines from the Pfizer and Moderna laboratories, the official explained.

It should be noted that people over 70 years of age and with immunocompromise must have received the third dose more than 5 months ago in order to be inoculated with the fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Finally, the civil servant reported that this Sunday, April 3, the vaccination of health personnel will begin in Lima and Callao; and during the course of the week it will be extended to the other regions of the country.

NEW VACCINATION POINTS

The brigades of the Directorate of Integrated Health Networks (Diris) Lima South of the Ministry of Health will immunize against COVID-19 at the Matellini terminal of the Metropolitano in Chorrillos , until April 8, to all the people who mobilize in this part of the city.

“A brigade is installed at the entrance to the station located at the junction of Paseo de la República Avenue and Ariosto Matellini Avenue, from 07:30 to 13:00 hours, applying first, second and third doses, as well as pediatric vaccines for minors,” said the technical team of Diris Lima Sur.

“These activities are an excellent opportunity for people to take advantage of getting vaccinated before moving to their workplace or returning home,” they added.

It is worth mentioning that there are currently vaccination brigades at the Lima Metro stations, these are: Cabitos, María Auxiliadora and Villa El Salvador. In addition, a new vaccination point will be set up in April at the Real Plaza in Villa María del Triunfo, where they can approach with their National Identity Document (DNI).
