This April began with another edition of Tecate Pa'l Norte, the music festival that brings together great musical concepts. For two days, bands such as Maroon 5, Los Fabulosos Cadilacs, Love of Lesbian and La Gusana Blind drove the audience crazy with their spectacular performances, as was shared by some attendees through social networks.
However, opinion about The Strokes concert was divided by different issues. First, twitter users pointed out that their presentation at the festival would have lasted less time than estimated, as the band would have taken the stage late and would also have finished earlier than expected.
“Imagine being a fan of The Strokes, paying a ticket to Pa'l Norte and having them give a HORRIBLE show”, “It is known that going to see The Strokes is a Russian roulette wheel: it can be the best or the worst concert of your life. Is he okay? No. Is that what is there? Yes.”, “Julian Casablancas and The Strokes said goodbye well after starting late and ending their show early in the North Pal”, wrote the tweeps.
But that was not all, secondly, the attendees criticized the attitude that the vocalist, Julián Casablancas, had because during the show he would have had some differences with his teammates in the band and his face would not have reflected happiness. They even pointed him out of being under the influence of alcohol or other substance.
“Se mam* The Strokes, one of the worst concerts I have seen, Julian is late, until the PTM of drugado, he forgets the lyrics and on top of that he leaves before and he didn't even say goodbye, he left us fart, but still, chingao, what good songs do they have”, “Julian Casablancas until his pu*a m*dre drugged and left early, was the The Strokes experience complete”, they tweeted on the platform.
Other people tried to defend the famous band by assuring that in recent years their concerts have been characterized by the weight of the vocalist's personality on stage. They also criticized the attitude that the audience had, as some felt that the level of emotion expected after listening live to the legendary group did not exist.
“What a dull audience are the regals, I was watching The Strokes was singing their songs at the top of their lungs”, “By the way, damn boring public, The Strokes don't deserve to go to festivals, we'll see how things get in the Sol Forum”, “The people who end up complaining about The Strokes are the ones who find out about the name of the band at the end of the concert”, said.
Despite the negative opinions, fans of the band assured that the love for the band is untouchable, especially after they played some of their most famous songs such as Reptilia and Selfless, starring in one of the most unforgettable moments of the entire festival.
“They played Selfless for the first time. Up Mexico, thanks to The Strokes, there is always a favorite country”, “They had the privilege of listening to Julian Casablancas sing Selfless to them”, “Just imagine being at the concert of The Strokes with all the lights off and suddenly Selfless starts to sound”, they shared.
During the last day of Tecate Pa'l Norte, Hombres G, Morat, Love of Lesbian, Esteman, The Blind Worm, Phobia, to name a few, also shone on the stages. However, Big Boy took the night by appearing on the Surprise Stage and performing My Eyes Cry for You.
It is worth mentioning that the music festival was one of the most anticipated because for two years the high-level shows were postponed or canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
