The Jalisco State Prosecutor's Office announced the start of the search for a foreign citizen who disappeared four years ago in the Puerto Vallarta area, which will be carried out in coordination with other authorities.
The announcement was made through a short 57-second video in which an agent of the Prosecutor's Office announces the beginning of the investigations, while in the background several experts can be seen preparing to start investigations in the area along with other security elements.
According to the video, the member of the prosecutor reports that various authorities are involved in the search, including the Jalisco State Prosecutor's Office (FE), the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Disappeared Persons, the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), the National Guard, as well as the Municipal Police, Civil Protection, the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences, among others.
The search will be carried out at five points of interest where test data were obtained and for this work we have the support of two trained canines from the Canine Group of the Ministry of Public Security.
The foreign national disappeared in the Port since October 28, 2018. The Canadian, Malcom Madsen, was last seen in a bar in the Romantic Zone of Puerto with his Mexican partner, identified as Marcela A., after that nothing was known about his whereabouts.
Then, in November 2019, a video circulated by foreign media from Canada showing Malcolm inside the bar with his partner. At one point the Canadian gets distracted and Marcela introduces something into her drink.
For this case, three persons are already subject to trial and the case is in the preliminary stage, according to the information of the agent and the FE communiqué.
The three arrested for alleged responsibility for Madsen's disappearance are Marcela A., his brother Martín Alejandro A. and Andrés Javier N., who is Marcela's son.
Madsen's partner was arrested in 2020 in the State of Mexico in the municipality of Tlanepantla. Then Martin Alejandro fell and finally Andrés in 2021, who was linked to the process for the disappearance of the Canadian.
On the other hand, the State Prosecutor's Office through the Special Prosecutor's Office for Disappeared Persons also accompanied the Todos Somos Karey collective in the municipality of San Pedro Tlaquepaque related to work carried out in an investigation folder for the disappearance of a person.
As a result of the information obtained by the collective itself, data were obtained from a farm located in the Micaelite neighborhood, so the support of the State agency was requested to carry out actions to search for people in the place.
While the work was being carried out on the site, a possible positive point of clandestine burial was identified, and the presence of ministerial personnel was requested for the purpose of prosecution.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, this is not the first work carried out with the collective, since on March 14 and 16, various search actions were carried out in the municipality of El Salto.
At the established point, two bodies of unidentified persons were found, so staff from the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences took care of transferring them to their facilities for the practice of necropsy
The day of search ended around 16:30 but they will resume on April 4, as detailed in their statement.
