The Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) opened an investigation folder into the crime of injuring a woman, which was allegedly committed by three police officers from the General Directorate of Citizen Security and Municipal Traffic of Chimalhuacán.
According to reports from feminist groups, the woman was arrested and beaten on April 1 by traffic police in Chimalhuacán.
After the reported incidents, three female police officers from the General Directorate of Citizen Security and Municipal Traffic of Chimalhuacán were investigated, who were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Nezahualcoyotl Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the reports made by various groups in the State of Mexico, such as Nos quieros Vivas Neza on April 1, 2022, around 8:40pm, Irene Yashika Martínez Cervantes was allegedly “arbitrarily arrested and violently detained” by members of the police in the municipality of Chimalhuacán aboard the TM 915 and TM 820 patrols.
This, as noted by the Collective, because the woman was driving a stolen motorcycle. However, later the police would have noticed that they had made a mistake in the number of plates, which did not correspond to the one reported stolen, this, according to what was reported by the feminist collective. Finally, the arrest, they explained, was because the woman was traveling in the opposite direction.
Subsequently, according to reports, since her arrest until approximately between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 in the morning of April 2, 2022, there was no information of Irene's whereabouts, so she was considered a victim of enforced disappearance.
Once she was located, according to testimonies from close people, it is known that Irene was beaten by the police, who introduced her with great violence
It should be noted that members of collectives such as Collective Latinas Guerreras En Movimiento, Justice For Diana, Vaisnavas Warriors, Collective “Las Tlahuelpuchis”, Collective Love Is Not Violence AC and Holy Yash have denounced the fact and held protests in front of the prosecutor's office, which were broadcasted live.
It should be added that on April 2, Irene came to file a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Prosecutor's Office in the municipality of Chimalhuacán, against the police who beat and detained her.
According to the organized groups, “a strong device was set up with elements of the police with long guns, who surrounded the building, with an absolutely intimidating attitude against the members of feminist collectives, who were demonstrating peacefully.
“From the organizations that make up Early Warning Red, we note with great concern the seriousness of these events and we do not hesitate to affirm that the acts that took place on April 1 and 2, 2022, are retaliation against the family, following the complaints they have made against the police officers who abducted and abused sexually of their daughter,” they said.
Finally, through a statement, the collectives took a stand against the alleged acts of intimidation “We assume that the lives of Ms. Irene and her daughter are at grave risk and that threats and violence against them by elements of the police”.
