City President of Ciudad Hidalgo urged to stay at home due to insecurity in Michoacán

The entity has suffered a wave of violence that seems unstoppable, so José Luis Tellez Marín called on the population to be at home with the family

The government of the state of Michoacán announced that the entity will remain green at the epidemiological traffic light due to the drop in infections and hospitalizations. However, the authorities called for precautions to continue avoiding crowded places and maintaining a healthy distance.

A similar message, regarding precautions, was given by the mayor of Ciudad Hidalgo, José Luis Tellez Marín, who called on the inhabitants of the municipality to take shelter in their homes. But not because of the pandemic, but rather related to the insecurity that persists in the state of Michoacán.

This is due to the presence of criminal groups within the entity that have triggered violence of concern to the inhabitants of the entity, since in recent months there have been numerous clashes between criminal groups or with the security forces, as well as sighting of bodies and narcomessages.

“That our activities of coexistence,” Tellez Marín said. “We preferably carry them together as a family and not in groups of unknown people. Avoid, as far as possible, attending events of high concentration of people and late at night”, urged the mayor.

The message continued with an invitation “to the people of Hidalgo to enjoy their daily activities responsibly. To parents, to raise awareness from example to our children, to our young people, to avoid exposing themselves in spaces or times that merit a risk. By abiding by the two previous provisions and especially being at home enjoying healthy coexistence with their families”.

Finally, “External the above, urging the entire population to stand in solidarity at this time, whose contribution of every citizen lies in collaborating in response to the seriousness of the crisis we are facing”, which assured that it is about to end. It should be noted that at no point in the message did he mention the word insecurity.

Of course, the mayor's exhortation was badly received by social media users who commented that it was not even close to a great strategy and others asked if it was really a curfew.

“How powerless to know that the authorities themselves do not know how to fight crime”, “Are you trying to say that crime is in control of the municipality?” , “Crime is not interested, they may take you out of your house”, were some of the comments.

And it is that Michoacán has remained one of the most violent states. In the early hours of Saturday alone, nine people were killed in clashes between forces of the Army, National Guard and State Police and alleged hit men in Jiquilpan.

According to the authorities, during the course of a ground patrol in the vicinity of the road leading to the municipality of Sahuayo, elements of the National Guard detected the presence of a van carrying armed men, which started a chase. Reports indicate that civilians lost control of the unit and were injured, leaving four deaths.

Later, on Avenida Circunvalación in Jiquilpan, suspected members of organized crime, from a gray Dodge Attitude vehicle with Jalisco state plates, shot at elements of the Armed Forces. Repelling the attack caused the loss of 4 of the attackers, however, an element of the Municipal Police also died.

The most recent was the massacre of 20 people in a clandestine palenque in the municipality of Zinapécuaro on the El Paraíso ranch, located in the same entity. The victims were killed by members of the Los Correa cartel, who are in a fight with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
