Darian Stacco, one of the Argentine tourists who was attacked on Saturday, March 26 by a police patrol while riding a motorcycle in Cozumel, Quintana Roo, was transferred to his country and admitted to the Fernández Hospital in the city of Buenos Aires.

This Saturday, April 2, the mother of the 27-year-old shared on her social networks the latest update of the medical report, which in Mexico was recorded as broken ribs, lung injuries, brain contusion and limb fractures.

According to the report by Marcela Paz, the mother of the young man who had traveled to Mexico in search of a job opportunity, the head injury — subarachnoid hemorrhage — that had been detected in Quintana Roo through a tomography scan, no longer appeared in Argentina, so the possibility was ruled out, as previously established , that he suffered some kind of brain damage.

“The doctors focused on the thoracic and cranial part. In Mexico, on the tomography he presented a subarachnoid hemorrhage, which is no longer in the one here today. That says there's no more chance of brain damage. First battle won,” the woman wrote on her Facebook profile.

Due to Stacco's compromised state of health, Mexico's health authorities determined that it was best to transfer him to his home country on a flight conditioned with six oxygen tubes, a doctor and a nurse, which landed in the South American country this Friday, April 2.

“My son, yesterday while they were getting you out of the ambulance, the first time I held you in my arms came to mind... That fragile little body that I was going to make responsible for taking care of you, protecting you and loving you. I couldn't kiss you on the forehead like you did with me, because of your fever and critical condition you were immediately isolated. But through the glass I spoke to you, and despite your pharmacological coma, I know you listened to me,” Paz wrote.

The other injured tourist, Luz Arias, 28, has not yet been able to be transferred to her country due to her precarious state of health. “Unfortunately my sister is not here to travel tomorrow or the day after... I estimate it will have several days to go until I can bring it,” one of her relatives told a local newspaper.

She, who was traveling as a co-pilot, suffered fractures in her hands and legs, a situation that led to the amputation of one of her limbs. “She's still sedated, after the amputation. They expect her to wake up alone,” said another of her relatives.
