Mexican goalkeeper Ana Paula Vazquez will replace Tokyo Olympics gold medallist An San in archery World Cup final lineup Hyundai 2021, which will take place at the end of September in Yankton, United States.
From her social networks, Ana Pau shared the excitement of having the opportunity to compete in the Archery World Cup and thanked An San: “Opportunities like this are not given every day, to work better to make the most of it!”
The Olympic champion shared her motives to the World Archery, one of the main reasons being because the representation of South Korea focused on the Olympic cycle and An San qualified due to her achievement of the gold medal in the individual category at the Tokyo Olympics.
Korea was not in all three stages of the Archery World Cup and for that reason the only way that An San qualified was because of her participation in the Olympics, the Korean goalkeeper shared her position, as well as the reasons why she decided not to participate.
During the Final Olympic Qualification Tournament, held in Paris, Chihuahua goalkeeper Ana Pau, along with Aida Roman and Alejandra Valencia, managed to qualify for the Olympics. Vazquez was among one of the four finalists in the individual category and in his participation in the three World Cups he was in the top ten.
In 2019, he managed to win his first bronze medal in the senior category, during the Pan American Championships. In the Hyundai World Cup event she will replace the Olympic champion with one of the best in the ranking with the 18th place.
Ana Pau is ready to play in the final of the Archery World Cup, after receiving news of her well-deserved place, the goalkeeper will make the most of her effort the opportunity of her debut at just 20 years of age. She is now focused on improving her results in the preliminary rounds of the Olympic Games, in which Brazil's Marcelle dos Santos dominated the sets 6-4.
The student of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, since the National Olympiad, was going to be an Olympiad, due to her results in composite archery.
