
From the oldest to the most current, a wide variety of coins are offered by a trading platform at exorbitant prices. This time we will announce the characteristics of 3 copies that, despite their low denomination, are quoted together in more than 100 thousand pesos.
Three of the copies are very old and are part of the AA family, which were put into circulation between the 1970s and 1980s. In 1992 they were in the process of being withdrawn.
They are currently demonetized because they belong to the monetary unit in force until December 31, 1992; this means that they are no longer valid for transactions because they lack liberatory power. Its current value is equivalent to the result of the division of the denomination they indicate, by one thousand.
What are they?
First copy
From oldest to youngest, in first position is a piece called the Phrygian cap, it was put into circulation in 1943. It was minted in copper, has a diameter of 28.5 mm and a composition 95% copper.

The copy bears on its reverse the number “20″, inscription “CENTAVOS”, a composition formed by the Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes and the pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacán, cactus, year of issue and symbol of the Mexican Mint “M°”. Smooth frame with triangular graphics.
While on its obverse is the National Shield of the eagle devouring a snake and the phrase “United Mexican States”.
This piece is sold for up to 80 thousand pesos, according to a person who put it up for sale on the Mercado Libre website, and supposedly has coinage errors.
Second Issue
In the second position is a coin with the effigy (image) of a political figure, which also carries a face value of 20 cents.
The copy was minted in cupronickel and was put into circulation in 1974, according to data from the Banco de México (Banxico). In addition, it has a diameter of 20.0 mm.
The peculiar demonetized piece, that is, it is no longer valid for making transactions, shows on its back the bust in three quarters of the profile of the former president of Mexico, Francisco I. Madero.

It also bears the printed number of “20″, the inscription “C.” as an abbreviation for the word cents, the year of issue and the symbol of the Mexican Mint “M°”. Smooth frame.
While the obverse depicted the traditional national shield of the eagle devouring a snake and the phrase “United Mexican States”.
The copy is quoted at up to 65 thousand pesos and also has an alleged coinage error on the date.
Third copy
It is a more cultural piece, as it brings an image to the Olmec head. It has a denomination of 20 cents, a diameter of 20.0 mm and was minted in brass or copper.
This coin was put into circulation in 1983, in addition to the image of the monument, it bears on its reverse the number 20 and the pennies symbol “¢, as well as the inscription “Olmec culture”.
In the center of its obverse is the traditional national shield of the eagle devouring a snake, in sculptural relief and with the legend “United Mexican States” forming the upper semicircle.
In this case it is offered up to 26 thousand pesos, through the same trading platform.
It must be remembered that all copies must contain certain elements in order to acquire more value, according to specialists.
