The teacher accused of sexually abusing a child under five years old is sent to jail in Bogotá

For this event, a protest occurred that ended in riots at the school where the child was studying in the town of Bosa, in the south of the Colombian capital

After the case of a five-year-old boy, whose mother reported that he had been the victim of sexual abuse by a teacher at the Nuevo Chile school, in the south of Bogotá, was heard, and which ended in a strong protest by students where there were disturbances and damage to the educational institution, a judge from the Republic sent the imprisonment of the person responsible.

“The Public Prosecutor's Office prosecuted a physical education teacher from a district school located in the town of Bosa in Bogotá. The defendant is allegedly responsible for carrying sexual acts to a child under five years of age, a student at the same district institution,” said José Manuel Martínez Malaver, director of the Bogotá section of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

The official also indicated that the arrest took place this week and that once he was placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities, the corresponding criminal proceedings were initiated in this case.

“On March 31, the arrest of the 54-year-old man was legalized and the Prosecutor's Office charged him with the crimes of sexual acts with a minor under 14 years of age aggravated in homogeneous and successive competition,” explained Martínez Malaver.

The director of the Public Prosecutor's Section in the Colombian capital added that there was enough evidence to prove that the accused had perpetrated these crimes, and that despite this, he did not accept his guilt.

“Thanks to the forcefulness of the evidentiary material presented and collected together with the Sijín of the Bogotá Police, the judge of guarantees issued an assurance measure in the teacher's prison, which was not raided during the indictment hearing,” said Martínez Malaver.

It must be remembered that this case provoked a strong rejection by the student community, since although the child's mother informed the directives of what happened, they were negligent.

According to a statement issued by the family of the child under the age of five, who would be the victim of sexual abuse, the boy informed his mother that a teacher at the Nuevo chile school, located in the Olarte neighborhood (in Bosa), would be doing abusive touching on his private parts.

When the mother of the family found out about the situation, according to the statement, she went to the school to make a complaint to the institution's directors last Friday, March 18. In response to this call from the child's mother, the school's guidance office would have referred the child to the UPA del Olarte.

In that place, after carrying out some examinations, a psychologist would have established that the minor was the victim of presumptive sexual abuse. Later, according to the statement, the child was hospitalized and the next day he was sent to a specialized center of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF) where he is again evaluated and the results are the same.

Although the reports of the psychologists who evaluated the minor coincide, according to her family, so far there is no opinion from Legal Medicine.

According to the same document, the child's mother gave timely notice to school directors about the alleged case of sexual abuse committed by one of the teachers on the school campus; however, no action had been taken in the matter.
