The premiere of the second Sonic is closer than we think. The adventures of the supersonic blue hedgehog who settled on Earth in the house of Tom and Maddie Wachowski, will once again face their archenemy, Dr. Robotnik, in this new installment. With the direction of Jeff Fowler and the added live action mode, it will have a great cast that will be headed by Jim Carrey.
They will accompany Carrey, who will be like Dr. Robotnik, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski, Ben Schwartz in the voice of Sonic, Idris Elba in Knuckles and Colleen O'Shaughnessey in Tails.
The sequel to this animated film will be set in Green Hills, where Sonic must demonstrate all his hero skills. Sonic managed to defeat Doctor Robotnik and banish him from Earth to send him to a remote planet full of mushrooms; three months have passed since those events and life seems to return to normal. Tom and Maddie left him alone at the house and went on vacation. However, Dr. Eggman (known in this universe as Doctor Robotnik) will not sit idly by.
A new confrontation with the villain united with Knuckles will make the days of the beloved hedgehog a real nightmare. Conflict and central tension will be in the search for an emerald that could be used to destroy great civilizations.
That's when the blue hedgehog will come into action with his group of brave friends, among whom is Tails. Both will try to stop the evil Robotnik and Knuckles and rescue the precious magic emerald from their hands.
This and other simultaneous adventures can be seen in Latin America from April 7, when Sonic 2 will hit theaters.
Along with the news, Paramount Pictures and Sega Sammy Holdings revealed two new projects in this franchise: the making of Sonic 3 and a series dedicated exclusively to the hedgehog. “We are pleased to announce the development of Sonic's third film and its first live-action series for Paramount+,” Sega CEO Haruki Satomi announced in an official statement.
He also announced that before the end of this year a new game, Sonic Frontiers, will be available, which will try to attract the loyal fans of the hedgehog for more than three decades. This new and long-awaited game, which will arrive in December, will be for the PS4, PS5, XBox One, Nintendo Switch and PC consoles.
