Little has happened since it became known that Juan Carlos Osorio is no longer in charge of America in Cali, news that had already been commented on for several days, and there are several names that have been rumored to replace him. For his part, the former coach of Atlético Nacional has stated that he feels bad about the fans and his exes led by the bad direction the team took. He also pointed out that despite how he left, he would have already received calls from two clubs and a selection with offers to direct them.

“A selection offered me and a couple of clubs. I'm going to sit quietly with my family and think, and discuss what is best for my professional career,” he commented in past interviews, noting that despite the fact that his name has sounded for the Colombian National Team, the national team that would have contacted him, about seven or eight days ago, is not from South America. However, he was emphatic that he wants the best for Colombian football and will work for that, leaving the door open in case the FCF speaks out, but acknowledging that such talk is not healthy for him or his family. “For all that has been generated around that, I promised my family that I would never talk about it again. I am a Colombian like everyone else, I love my country, I have always defended our football and our footballers. We have to reflect, we have to dedicate ourselves to improving our football and our league”, he said.

Osorio's departure would have left the scarlet club short of money, so they could not point him to a name too sought-after to sign him as a coach. In an interview with Directv, Tulio Gómez, president of the red devils, commented that the team was practically on wheels with the coach's departure. “Osorio took a set, he left us bare,” he said, referring to the amount of money that the club had to pay to compensate the DT and thus agree to leave, after 8 months on the bench, without any title and with a wide crisis of results, including the painful elimination in the first round of the Copa Sudamericana.

Osorio would have received around 1.2 billion pesos, a very high figure for the local market. Gómez was exalted in several passages of the interview, but he assured that the plan was for restructuring from then on. “The replacement is ready, it arrives next week. He is a coach who has been a champion,” he said. In some media it is assured that the candidate could be Alexander Guimaraes, who has already led the team in recent seasons. For now, while the name of the new coach is revealed, America will be under the command of Pompilio Páez, who was acting as Osorio's assistant coach and will lead the next match against Millonarios, tomorrow at the Pascual Guerrero Stadium, a match that corresponds to matchday 14 of the BetPlay League Apertura Tournament.

The former coach of Mexico expressed his desire to return to lead a national team, since for him it means a lot to be in high competition at the international level. “Leading in a World Cup, in an America's Cup or internationally is an extraordinary opportunity for any strategist. Directing in a World Cup was perhaps the most beautiful thing I ever had to live in football. I would love to return to a World Cup one day,” he said.

Nothing official is yet known about the immediate future of the coach with a past in England, but from now on his name has been placed on the radar of international football. What will your destiny be?
