The Miguel Indurain 2022 GP started under a temperature of 3° and a lot of snow, something quite cold for the runners. In addition, the organization confirmed the cut of the last 13 km of the route due to the bad weather in the region of Estella Lizarra, when initially it was planned that it would be 203 km.

In competition, 10 WorldTeam teams, 9 ProTeam and 2 Continental teams were presented, a total of 138 riders who set out to go for the best possible result for their squads.

Almost 40 km after the start of the competition, attacks began to occur by some runners, gradually reaching up to 4 minutes apart from the major squad. 9 riders started the day's adventure in search of collecting the points of the intermediate sprints.

The Spanish team, Movistar Team, made the first effort to discount on the run, anticipating that they had Enric Mas as head of ranks and who would be in charge of retaining the title within the local team.

Over the 100 km to reach the finish line the teams most interested in winning the 31st edition of the competition, put their foot on the accelerator to cut even more the time that separated them with the escaped men remaining in 2′ minutes 55″ seconds.

The UAE Team Emirates, who also had great expectations and interests in the competition with Joao Almeida, put their chest to the wind alternating with the Movistar Team, thus helping to reduce the quota with the escapees.

In competition, the Colombians took the game: Sergio Andrés Higuita (Bora hansgrohe), Sebastián Henao (Astana Qazaqstan Team), Daniel Mendez (Kern Pharma), Dayer Quintana and Winner Anacona (Arkea Samsic), none of the coffee growers reached the top 10 of the race, although they did valuable work for their teammates.

The fugue group over the last 75 km to the finish line again took a considerable few seconds of advantage, putting the difference back over 3 minutes, while the peloton traveled at a moderate speed, saving energy and then starting the escape discount again.

As the kilometers passed, the platoon left behind the runners who finished their work as gregarios, making each fewer runners in the group facing the end.

The difference below 40 km for the end was set at 1 minute 27 seconds. The pursuit work was done by Bahrain Victorious, Movistar Team and UAE Team Emirates, who showed that they had every intention of seeking victory.

With 20 km to go to the finish line, the platoon took over the cause of their leaders hunted down the escapees and then impose a stronger race pace to avoid complications on account of other runners who wanted to escape.

However, Enric Mas of the Movistar Team and Davide Formolo of the UAE Team Emirates, left the group with a strong attack 17 km from the finish line. But the platoon would accelerate so as not to let them go alone, taking them again 2 km later.

Astana and the Basque Country then attacked, but the squad, which was already reduced, had them close to control them. Later, 14 km away, the Colombian Daniel Méndez of Kern Pharma and the Russian Aleksandr Vlasov of the Bora Hansgrohe attacked.

5 riders would go as a group to seek victory, while another dozen chased them 10 seconds behind the leading group. In the auction, the squad was united and I saw Marc Hirschi of UAE Team Emirates trying to attack along with Frenchman Pierre Latour of Total Direct Energie.

But the final victory would be for the Frenchman Warren Bargil of Arkea Samsic, who in a very tight sprint beat Vlasov (Bora) and Australia's Simon Clarke (Israel Premier Tech).
