The Colombian champion of the 2019 Tour de France and the 2021 Giro d'Italia, Egan Bernal, gave a press conference this Saturday, April 2. The Cundinamarquis has given details of what has been the two months he has been recovering from the hard accident he experienced.

January 2022 will remain in the memory of the Zipaquireño cyclist, after he experienced the worst accident he has experienced in his sports career so far. Egan arrived at the Clínica de la Sabana with up to 20 broken bones and the illusion somewhat destroyed, because for this season it was planned that he would return to the Tour de France, being one of the favorites to face the two-time champion Tadej Pogacar of the UAE Team Emirates.

However, this duel will have to wait for the fans of world cycling, since the return of the Colombian rider to competitions with his team Ineos Grenadiers, does not yet have a date.

However, the recovery that the 25-year-old rider has shown has surprised the sports world and cycling fans, because seeing Egan take his first steps after leaving the hospital, then doing rehabilitation exercises, to moving to exercise bikes, was something that many did not believe.

The most relevant impressions came with a publication in which he showed himself cycling on the road. Immediately the comments were not long in coming, applauding the fact and wishing the coffee cyclist the best on his return to the exercise.

As the cycling calendar progresses in the old continent, Egan continues to take important steps to be able to return for what he said at the press conference:

He also said that he does everything possible to ensure that his recovery takes place in the best way, being guided by doctors who have also taken the cyclist's process closely to the point of being allowed to ride a bicycle.

Egan, while talking a little tired, rode his bicycle on a roller, while looking at a screen where what was happening on the Zwift platform was projected where, according to the journalist and host of the event, Juan Charry, there were more than 2000 people “rolling” with Egan.

The voices of encouragement for the Colombian have been significant for the cyclist, because he has said that since he was in the hospital people have felt it, even telling an anecdote that happened to him while he was hospitalized when a woman from the general services approached him to tell him that he had prayed a rosary the night for the health of the athlete.
