Vegetables, vegetables, fruits and plants planted and harvested in the urban gardens of Bogotá, will be some of the products that citizens will be able to find this Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of April in the ninth version of the agroecological farmers' markets that will be held in the Bogotá Botanical Garden.
Through this new version of 'Bogotá es mi huerta', the District and the Botanical Garden seek to promote the purchase of organic products produced and sold by farmers, orcharters and entrepreneurs in the city, at a fair price and without any intermediary.
The event, which will be held in the main square of the Bogotá Botanical Garden, will feature orcharters from Bosa, Suba, Kennedy, San Cristobal, Barrios Unidos, Usme, Ciudad Bolivar, Sumapaz, Santa Fe and Engativa, who will offer vegetables, fruits, medicinal plants, condiments, vegetables, among others.
The Ministry of Economic Development will also include farmers and entrepreneurs in the event, who will delight the palate of attendees with natural jellies, juices, dairy products, homemade yogurts, almojábanas, cakes, masijos, empanadas, among others.
The director of the Botanical Garden also announced that, for the first time, several citizens belonging to the program 'Women who green', in which activities are being carried out to promote care for the environment in the city, will participate in this ninth version of agroecological farmers' markets.

According to Perdomo, six of the members of the program will participate in the initiative, where they will show their ventures such as marinades made with aromatic and condimentary plants, chocolates, soaps with natural essences, among other products that they themselves make in their gardens.
The initiative, which will take place between 9:00 in the morning and 3:00 in the afternoon of this weekend, will also have a potato tasting event native to the town of Usme at 10:00 in the morning on Saturday 2 April.

According to the Botanical Garden, the objective of the tasting is to encourage citizens to consume these products typical of the Savannah of Bogotá.
“With these markets we seek to promote the commercialization of urban agriculture in the gardens, strengthen the social fabric, contribute to the mitigation of climate change and the exchange of cultural knowledge,” said the director of the JBB.
In total, according to the entity, Bogotá currently has 5,800 urban and peri-urban gardens in all parts of the city, of which more than 60 have participated in agro-ecological peasant markets to publicize its products: plants, fruits, vegetables, among others.
