This is how Ely Guerra protested against gender violence in music at the beginning of her career

The interpreter of “Love Me Mucho” applauded the women who have raised their voices against those who have violated them

The singer Ely Guerra revealed how she experienced gender violence during the first years of her career, as well as confessed how she expressed her disagreement with the music industry at that time.

During the first general rehearsal of the Cumbia Machine Tour, an event that will bring together the voices of artists of various musical genres singing cumbian songs, the performer of iQuiéreme mucho/i applauded the women who have raised their voices against those who have violated them.

There are very deep circumstances and it is impossible to touch these issues superficially,” the singer said to various media outlets.

The singer said she had been a victim of gender-based violence because her performances were far from stellar in music festivals, since, according to her statements, women's participation was very low and labels gave little relevance to her project.

“Of course there has been gender-based violence, you will remember that I was rappe for a long time, it was a way of saying: 'I have come this far. ' The interviews were incursive, the interviews were silly, the way they treated me within record companies. Violence is not only those disastrous events that have now been envisioned, it also has to do with the way they treat you,” said Ely Guerra.

Finally, Guerra commented that for the presentation of Cumbia Machine Tour this April 1st at the Arena Mexico City he performed an unreleased song with which he will seek to “refresh his repertoire” so that his fans will shake the enclosure of the country's capital.

The Cumbia Machine Tour will be composed of: Erik and Mia Rubin, La Sonora Santanera, La Sonora Dynamita, Kalimba, Ely Guerra, Benny Ibarra, Raymix, Venus, Lupillo Rivera and Victor Garcia.

Erik Rubín, who is the producer of the show, confirmed that Paulina Rubio will join the cumbia project soon and said that it was the golden girl who showed interest in integrating into the concept:

“I don't have to convince her, she was the one who spoke to me, well, I had spoken to her to invite her, yes, as I told you, later she will join. It's basically a fact, she was the one who talked to me to see when it was possible, even now the dates we had clashed, but later yes, she and other artists, many others”, confirmed Andrea Legarreta's husband.

In addition, he said that he also invited Alejandra Guzmán, with whom Rubio will soon begin a tour called Perrísimas: “I even talked to Alejandra, let's see, I think it's a project that any artist would really like to join, singing these emblematic songs is a prize, we will be announcing, yesterday I had talks for the tour in the United States, I think we are going to have Cumbia Machine for a while.”

Erik stressed that the concert will also be a showcase for singers to present new songs and play on stage with different combinations and collaborations:

“It's not always the same artists, that's a bit of the idea, which will never be the same, so that none of the editions are missed, on the other hand we are premiering by concert two songs that we are bringing both from pop or rock to cumbia. For example, the next one, in Monterrey we are going to be releasing an unreleased song by Ely Guerra, we are constantly going to be releasing songs and we are going to be releasing them as a kind of EP,” he explained.
