The new Google Docs help for better writing

Google Docs will soon incorporate new tools to improve user typing. In addition to grammar and spelling suggestions, it will also add recommendations to use more inclusive language as well as to avoid inappropriate terms.

The user may also be advised to choose active, rather than passive, voice in certain contexts, or to write a more concise sentence for clarity. In turn, potentially discriminatory or inappropriate language will be flagged, along with suggestions on how to make your writing more inclusive and appropriate for your audience.

The new writing tools will begin to reach users in the next two weeks, as announced by the company on its official blog.

Another new feature that will come to the service is a new “no page” view for Docs, which formats the document to the size of the window being used.

Yesterday, the company also announced a large number of new features for Workspace. These include the ability to start video calls from a Docs, Sheets and Slides file to present this content to all meeting attendees; as well as Picture-in-Picture on Google Meet, which will allow users to access a floating window of up to four participants while using other applications.

On security, it was reported that starting in May, optional client-side encryption (currently in beta) will be implemented to help keep your communications more confidential, secure and private. This feature gives customers direct control of the encryption keys and the identity provider used to access those keys. Throughout 2022, optional end-to-end encryption will be introduced for all meetings.
