A success at the box office. In its US premiere, The Batman has surpassed the films Aquaman and Joker, also from the universe of DC Comics, and Marvel Studios titles like Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man: Back Home. According to new information, its domestic revenue has risen to $338.1 million since its launch on March 3 in US cinemas.
According to Forbes, which recently reported these figures, the film with Robert Pattinson ranks fourth among the most successful productions based on DC comics, behind only Wonder Woman (412.5 million), Batman: The Knight of the Night Rises (448 million) and Batman: The Knight of the Night (533 million). The latter two belong to the Gotham Watchman saga designed by Christopher Nolan for the big screen.
In addition, The Batman is also positioned very close to other high-performance films in Warner Bros. such as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II (381 million) and Sniper (350 million); the next publication of the numbers recorded globally is also expected. For now, it is not possible to declare where it would be in front of the aforementioned films, due to the fact that it is a few more weeks before its release on the HBO Max platform, scheduled for April 19, is official.
As you remember, all the company's film proposals are also distributed in the digital market through the streaming service with a 45-day wait to maintain an exclusive screening in theatres. Users will soon be able to enjoy this reboot of the superhero under the eyes of filmmaker Matt Reeves, who wrote and directed this story that addresses Bruce Wayne's second year in his double life as a millionaire heir by day and Batman by night.
Robert Pattinson is “revenge” in The Batman
“In his second year of fighting crime, Batman explores the corruption existing in Gotham City and its link to his own family. In addition, he will come into conflict with a serial killer known as The Riddle,” describes the official synopsis of the new Gotham Bat adventure. Reeves takes elements from the character's original comics to translate them into a completely renewed plot on the big screen.
Robert Pattinson succeeds Ben Affleck in the role of the masked man and offers a brilliant interpretation of the hero through a much darker vision. “I am revenge”, is the phrase that has become a hallmark of this version of the British actor, who — silencing prejudice because of his past in Twilight — faces an evil dome in a Gotham City much more faithful to that of the pages of DC Comics.
The protagonist was joined by other notable stars to the main cast: Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddle, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as The Penguin and Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon. The script and direction fell to Matt Reeves, a self-confessed fan of the superhero's adventures in comics who has managed to keep his legacy in style.
The Batman has been showing in cinemas since March 3 in Latin America and will arrive at HBO Max on April 19.
