If you are Colombian and want to travel to Mexico, you should know that starting this Friday, April 1, you must meet certain requirements before entering the country. Here we tell you the steps to follow, as well as the documents required to enter the Aztec nation.

-The first thing you need to do is enter this web address, fill in the data requested there, send the required information and confirm a verification link that will be sent to your email.

-Once you enter with your username and password, you must attach the following documents, as specified by the Secretariat of Government of Mexico. The papers to be attached are: valid passport (valid for at least 6 months); ticket to leave Mexico; reservation of the place where you are going to stay or proof of address; Temporary or Permanent Resident Card issued in Mexico (if applicable).

-To upload the documents you must click where it says capture document and then on validate document.

- There, the Mexican government will validate that the information provided there is legal, correct and meets the established parameters.

-After validation, you must provide some data as if you have acquaintances in Mexico, emergency telephones, contact details, among others.

-In turn, you must specify if you have planned activities, so it is recommended to have a travel itinerary established before carrying out the procedure.

-At the end of the registration on the aforementioned page, a QR code will be sent to your registered email address, which you must not forget, as you will have to present it once you arrive in the North American country. Remember: this code will be requested by the immigration authorities. It is the only thing that will guarantee your arrival to that nation.

If you arrive in Mexico they will no longer ask for a negative test for covid-19. What's more, you no longer have to quarantine to step on the land of jalapeño. “The immigration authorities retain at all times the power to allow or deny entry to the country,” explains the official portal of Migration Mexico.

During 2021, complaints of abuse of authority by Mexican authorities towards Colombians increased significantly. Citizens, through social networks and the media, commented that because of their nationality they were locked up in offices for days and questioned, in addition, they did not give them food guarantees or go to the bathroom.

According to the information, the countries decided to reach an agreement because many travelers lost not only their tickets, but the payment of stay and other investments they had made. “In this way we prevent what has happened during the last year and a half from happening and that is that when they arrive in Mexico they are not admitted, they lose their hotel package, their tickets and all the effort that families have made to spend a few days of tourism in Mexico,” said Vice President and Foreign Minister Ramírez.

Remember that in addition to the form upon entry into Mexico, other requirements are: return ticket, hotel reservation or details of the people who will host them, as well as the economic capacity to pay for their stay.
