Avengers: Endgame meant the end of the road for all the actors who started in this cinematic universe in the role of the classic Marvel superheroes. Since the film's release in 2019, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans had not worked on a project together again, but fate seems to have brought them together again with Project Artemis.
According to the American press, the film stars will star in this story, which will be directed by Jason Bateman (actor, director and executive producer of Ozark) and will be produced by Apple studios, having won a deal worth more than $100 million. As you remember, the production company recently marked its first victory at the Oscars with the statuette for Best Film for CODA: Signs of the Heart.
Project Artemis will be written by Rose Gilroy, daughter of filmmaker Dan Gilroy and actress Rene Russo, and the direction will fall to the acclaimed protagonist of Ozark, what will the story consist of? The first information ensures that it will focus on the space race, although there are no greater details about the plot so far.
In addition to starring, the two-time Oscar-nominated actress will mark her second time as a producer — after Black Widow — alongside Jonathan Lia and Keenan Flynn through their company These Pictures, which requested and developed the script. Bateman is also listed as a producer through Aggregate Films.
Two great Marvel stars collaborate again
Scarlett Johansson will finally be reunited with her former Avengers partner, actor Chris Evans, after they both acted together in the film that ended the saga three years ago. A short time later, they had tried to collaborate on Ghosted, but the Black Widow interpreter ended up leaving the project and was replaced by Cuban-Spanish star Ana de Armas.
Evans had his last appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Avengers: Endgame, where Steve Rogers passed the legacy of Captain America to Sam Wilson official. For her part, Johansson said goodbye to her role as Natasha Romanoff with Black Widow (2021), the film that first told the origins of the Russian spy and member of the Avengers. Subsequently, each of them have appeared in other films and many more are about to be released.
The film Project Artemis will be released under the Apple label with the protagonists of the two stars and the direction of Jason Bateman. The project is still at a very early stage of development, so an approximate date for its release in cinemas and/or in digital format is unknown.
