After finishing the Concacaf Octagonal Final in number 2, Mexico secured its stay at the Qatar 2022 World Cup. As every four years, FIFA will conduct the official draw in the host country to find out how the eight groups will be formed. It will be this Friday, April 1, when the Tricolor will know if it will be part of the death sector.

Despite having been part of the eight best national teams worldwide, the Tri's irregular performance in late 2021 and early 2022 brought it down some positions to rung number nine. Although Italy's absence from the World Cup sowed a slight hope for being the top seed, the results were not enough and they were once again part of the second drum.

The Doha Convention Centre, Qatar, will be the meeting point for the representatives of the 29 national teams that have secured their place so far. The event will bring together historical personalities such as Cafú, Bora Milutinovic, Lothar Matthaus, among others who will be responsible for choosing the spheres. Although the event is scheduled for 19:00 local time, the time difference will allow live streaming for Mexico.

Date: Friday, April 1, 2022

Time: 10:00 hrs from central Mexico.

Venue: Doha Convention Centre, Qatar.

Television: The draw will be broadcast on the broadcast television signal on channel 7 in a coverage directed by Christian Martinoli, Luis García and the Azteca Deportes team. Meanwhile, channel 5 of TUDN will also have the live signal.

There are still three places to be defined to meet the 32 guests of the world cup party. It is worth mentioning that one of the tickets corresponds to the winner of the UEFA repechage, however Russia's invasion of its neighbouring country has delayed the dispute between Scotland and Ukraine. And it is that the winner will face Wales to define the last guest from the European continent.

On the other hand, the remaining two tickets correspond to the matches of the intercontinental repechage. One of the keys includes the match between Costa Rica and New Zealand, representatives of Concacaf and the Oceanian Football Confederation. The last one will be between Peru, fifth place in Conmebol, and the winner of the meeting between the United Arab Emirates and Australia, representatives of Asia. Despite this, the 4 drums were defined.

Each of the guests will take a ball with the name of one of the ranked teams, as well as one more with the letter of the group to which they will be assigned. With the exception of UEFA, which has 13 representatives, none of the confederations can have dual representation in the same sector. In the event that the case arises, the second selection will remain separate.

The first time the World Cup draw was used in the 1930 Uruguay Cup to resolve the low attendance of national teams, which was 13, since the original plan included the direct round of 16 dispute. In this sense, in order to avoid the permanence of the Uruguayan and Argentinian powers in the same sector, as well as to guarantee spectacle and competition, the organizers gave rise to the figure of “seeded”.
