LIMA IN THE EYES OF THE WORLD

Peru was chosen as the venue this year, due to its first-rate infrastructure, following the competitions held in Russia and Brazil, in 2016 and 2019, respectively.

In this way, VIDENA is once again the scene of a championship of international significance. This time, from the modern Velodrome, built for the Lima 2019 Games and currently managed by the Legacy Project. Eight countries will participate: Portugal, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Turkey, Uruguay and Peru.

DEBUT PERUANO

The Peruvian national team, led by captain Edgard Gómez (24), is part of Group B, along with Portugal, Mexico and Argentina. Meanwhile, Group A includes Brazil, Chile, Turkey and Uruguay. The national team will debut against Mexico, on April 2, from 7:30 p.m.

THE WORLD CUP MASCOT

Another attraction of the 2022 Futsal Down World Cup will be the presence of the official mascot called “Qantu”, which represents a Peruvian hummingbird, an endemic bird of the Utcubamba River basin, in the high jungle of the north of the country.

At VIDENA, the most modern sports infrastructure in the Americas region emerges, under the responsibility of the Legacy Project, which continues to work in coordination with federations and institutions related to sport.
