Owner of América de Cali dispatched after the resignation of Juan Carlos Osorio: “We didn't think it would go so badly”

Poor results and differences with the board of directors ended up determining the coach's departure

Juan Carlos Osorio stopped being coach of America de Cali. This was reported early on Thursday, March 31, by several journalists from the city of Cali and, later, the club ratified it by means of a press release.

The one who managed to reach an agreement with the coach was the president of América de Cali, Mauricio Romero, when he took the lead in the negotiation after Tulio Gómez, the club's top shareholder, and Juan Carlos Osorio did not complete their disengagement. The economic agreement would be for USD 400,000, which will be delivered in two parts, 50% at the time of signing and the remaining in December.

Osorio had already been on the tightrope for his performance with the Red Devils. Last October the board of directors discussed the possibility of him leaving the team, but the coach asked for the chance to finish the round-robin phase and, for his well-being, he managed to get into the top eight of the tournament, where he dazzled.

In this campaign, contrary to the last one, the lack of support of the club's leadership became evident, who took charge of signings like that of Iago Falque and, as time went by, revealed its non-conformity towards the DT. Tulio Gómez, for example, gave a few days ago what to talk about with the tweet: “The bad worker blames the tool, because mediocre people don't accept their own mistakes and blame others for their inability.”

Well, as expected, once the departure of the risaraldense coach became official, the club's top shareholder spoke at ESPN F90 about the decision, where he did not save his differences with Osorio, and referred to the future of America in Cali.
