America from Cali is again left without coach, being the departure of coach Juan Carlos Osorio number 11 since he managed to rise with coach Hernán Torres. The news of the departure of coach risaraldense was confirmed by the club in a statement, however, it was not a surprise to anyone since for many weeks this idea had been contemplated.

“América de Cali informs its fans, the media and the general public that, following a decision taken by mutual agreement and an effort by both parties, the contractual relationship with strategist Juan Carlos Osorio was terminated. We wish him success in his professional career,” the team said in the statement, where they also confirmed Pompilio Páez as interim coach and who will begin to lead the team from date 14, where the 'Red Devils' will face Millionarios.

America de Cali must go ahead and will seek to score the most points to get closer to the top eight in the standings. Remember that the vallecaucano team is in the 15th box with 15 points, the product of four wins, three draws and six defeats. Recall that the 'Red Devils' were eliminated in the first round of the Copa Sudamericana after losing to Independiente Medellín on penalties.

The Colombian coach was one of the great revelations as a coach a few years ago, he even managed to lead a large team in a World Cup, however, four years later the situation changed. He has not been able to consolidate himself in any team, he has been the protagonist of several controversies and now, after his departure from America from Cali, his future is uncertain.

No one can deny the enormous career of the Colombian coach who started as assistant coach at Manchester City and later managed Colombia. After his time at Millonarios he went to the MLS and returned to the country in 2010, where he won his first coaching title with Once Caldas. He tried his luck in Mexico but ended up returning to the country to take over the Atlético Nacional project, a team with which he won six titles.

His good time at Nacional allowed him to lead one of the most emblematic teams in Brazil, Sao Paulo, but it did not last more than a year as he was chosen to be the coach of the Mexico National Team. The Colombian started with great numbers in the 'Tri' but a 7-0 win against Chile in the Copa America changed the whole picture. He qualified for the World Cup in Russia, but with many uncertainties and in his first match he beat Germany, this being his most important victory of his career. After completing his participation in the World Cup, he ended his tenure in the national team.

From that moment on there was a turning point in the career of the Colombian coach, he was chosen to lead the Paraguayan national team, however, a few months later he resigned for family reasons and without having led an official match. He returned to Colombia where he led Atlético Nacional, but this time he failed to shine, so he left the team in November 2020. Six months later he arrived at América de Cali and even though he didn't make it one year, the team ended up leaving.

Added to all this are some controversies that were notorious, at least in his last stint at América de Cali, when he played the Super League against Santa Fe and showed his finger to the fans of the Bogotá team. In a match against Tolima he was annoyed that the fourth official took his arm so he slapped him. Added to all this is his bad relationship with Tulio Gómez and the team's managers.

The most remembered of all this is the stomp he gave to a player from Independiente Medellín when he fell close to the feet of the coach, who realizes and commits the act. When the player gets up he pushes him and the coach claims the referee for this fact and knowing that he hadn't noticed what happened previously. “My attitude was bold, it was reactive, it was inappropriate and I think it was inappropriate.”
