Federal and local authorities arrested five suspected members of the Michoacán Family, who are being investigated for their involvement in the massacre of 20 people in a palenque in Zinapécuaro, in addition to attacks on ministerial facilities in Maravatío.

Federal sources consulted confirmed to Infobae Mexico that the subjects belong to the faction that registers operations in eastern Michoacán and part of the State of Mexico. According to ministerial authorities, the subjects were arrested in a town in the municipality of Susupuato.

These are Fernando José E., José Antonio Q., Adrián C., Juan Antonio M., and Irvin R., who were secured three 7.62 rifles (AK-47); two .22 caliber rifles; one .270 rifle; a 12 mm semi-automatic shotgun and a 40 mm caliber grenade launcher attachment; as well as useful magazines and cartridges.

“Jute bags containing green grass, apparently marijuana, were also seized,” said the Michoacán Prosecutor's Office, which is investigating the alleged involvement in both attacks.

According to the official report, the five men were placed on a dirt road that leads to the town of El Mago, carrying long guns. The operation involved agents of the National Anti-Kidnapping Coordination, the National Intelligence Center, the National Guard, the Army and the local prosecutor's office.

After their arrest, the alleged criminals were transferred to the city of Morelia to be placed at the disposal of the Attorney General's Office at the headquarters of the Michoacán entity. Preliminary indications from the authorities will continue to support the implications committed on 9 February and 27 March.

In the early morning shooting of the Michoacán Prosecutor's Office and actions to support the attack, three officers were injured. At that time, the participation of the Correas, designated as allies of the Michoacán Family, was not ruled out.

As a result of the break-in of an armed commando last weekend in a clandestine palenque in Zinapécuaro, 19 people were killed on the spot, while one more victim died on the way to the hospital.

In addition, four people were injured by the impacts. To date, only one subject nicknamed El Chapo, who is possibly originally from Guatemala, remains protected. Everyone else has already been claimed by relatives.

Federal authorities had already pointed out that the massacre that claimed the lives of 20 people resulted from reprisals between members of organized crime. In that area bordering Guanajuato and approaching the State of Mexico, cells of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), the Correas and the Michoacán Family are disputed for control.

Preliminary reports indicate that revenge was planned against an alleged regional head of the CJNG who migrated from his affiliation with the Michoacán Family. Falcons located the alleged leader and an operation was deployed to execute him, however, the Correas would have served as support for these actions.

On the other hand, the same group led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, el Mencho, denounced in a video released on social networks that those who executed the 20 victims were hosts of the leader of the Michoacán Family, Medardo Hernández Vera alias El Cien or Lalo Mantecas; they pointed to coordination with Daniel Correa, head of the cell that bears his surname.

The massacre in the clandestine palenque of Zinapécuaro was recorded at night. The owner of the place and his son were killed there, as well as three women and the rest of 15 men. The assassins blocked the road around the El Paraíso ranch in the Emiliano Zapata colony with a truck.

In the event held open to the public, about 40 cockfights were held without a bet. When the site closed its doors, a command arrived aboard a Sabritas distribution van, which had been stolen in the State of Mexico days earlier.

They opened fire and then escaped in cars of the victims themselves. The expert agents located 15 vehicles of different types and models. While in one of the vans, allegedly related to the persons who suffered the assault, clothing and stickers with the logo of a criminal cell were located. More than a hundred heavy-caliber percussion casings were also presented.
