Divisions continue in the Democratic Center due to the “Duke effect”

In recent days, Senator María Fernanda Cabal has been blunt against the president and the party itself.

Divisions within the Democratic Center continue, as different leaders have shown their disconformity with the results of the last legislative elections, and some have resigned noting that the party's initial focus has been lost, while others directly blame President Iván Duque for the problems that led to the failure of this suffrage movement, one of the main detractors of Senator María Fernanda Cabal, who has been forceful against the National Government.

Senator María Fernanda Cabal, referred to her perspective on the current situation of the Centro Democrático party because, although this is considered to be the bench of the government, some leaders of this movement assume that this is not the case, since different positions were generated, which led to the independence of several politicians within it. political force because of its opposition to established ideas.

Regarding the last party meeting, W Radio, was able to hear one of the most controversial opinions issued by Cabal, as the lobbyist pointed out to the Duque government and former President Álvaro Uribe himself, emphasizing: “I feel sorry, but sadly we chose government and we were not a governing party, and you President Uribe, you have been very prudent in trying to involve the government, but the consequences are clear since the regional elections, here we do not enjoy being part of the government, here it was governed by adversaries and that is clear”.

On the other hand, the senator pointed out that the crisis in the collective comes from the dynamics that have been assumed, since international examples have not been followed that lead to the Union and the political development of the same party, referring to models such as the Democrat and Republican in the United States. It should be noted that, for the upcoming presidential elections, the Democratic Center will not have a specific candidate.

A few days ago, in an interview with Semana, Senator María Fernanda Cabal mentioned the need to hold more conventions within the community, in order to take on challenges and analyze the context of the country, noting: “The Democratic Center has also made mistakes since the directive, first conventions were never held, the public, the base, the militancy, they need to be touched, it is like the football match; that they make it feel, that they make it vibrate, that we learn as I have said in other spaces of the Democrats and Republicans, that they celebrate and do the great events, not only once, but they do it during the course of the year and finally it is the great celebration when they announce their candidate, here you could mostly do that this is a warlord party, it is easier”.

Responsibilities have been assumed in recent days for the failure of Uribism in the Congress elections, although many have pointed out that it is all due to the lack of presence of Álvaro Uribe, Cabal has been forceful in explaining that this situation is caused by the so-called “Duque effect”, stating that because of his lack of commitment to the party, it lost credibility and there was never an endorsement to the government bench.

Meanwhile, the most voted senator in the country in the last elections, said in Semana, that Duque worked with his back to the party and left them completely alone, even though they were the ones who raised him to the presidency, Cabal emphasized: “We didn't do well, President Uribe said, we lost seats we lost five seats in the Senate, and half, 16 in House, means that the presence is reduced. Duke who ruled behind the back of the party that brought him to power, a government that moved away from President Uribe's legacy, even if he denies it.”
