Tyler-Jo Walker, 23, faced trial in a British court for forcing a teenage girl to have sex with 17 men on the same day to pay her a debt of £100 ($131).
The escort worked for the Premier Escorts agency using the name Georgie, became friends with the vulnerable teenager in a park and they started chatting on Instagram.
The teenager, who was lent Walker's driver's license so she could go out and drink, visited an apartment block in Sunderland to see Walker.
Walker, for “no reason”, paid 47 pounds sterling for the young lady's taxi ride, money that he would later charge her.
“When he arrived, Tyler-Jo Walker opened the door wearing only his underwear. When asked what she was doing, the defendant told her she was an escort,” the prosecutor in the case Sue Hirst told the court.
The court heard that the teenager was “shocked”, but she stayed in the apartment with Walker, who soon told her that he now owed her £100 for the taxi and other items.
“When she asked for her money back, the plaintiff told her she could return it to her on Thursday, but the defendant was not willing to wait,” the prosecutor explained.
Then things took a sinister turn when Walker told the young woman that she would have to have sex with men to pay the money she owed her.
“She told the police that she felt she couldn't say no because the defendant was very determined that this would have to happen,” the prosecutor continued.
The court heard that Walker had the teenager pose in her underwear so that she could take pictures and present her as a potential worker at the escort agency, saying she was 18 years old.
In a matter of days, arrangements were made for a man to visit the apartment in Sunderland.
When the man arrived, the young woman got scared and ran away, she told Walker that she didn't want to sleep with him, but she replied that she would have to because “how else would I pay him?”
The defendant led her upstairs, talked to the man, asking him how long she would be there, and he answered half an hour. He said it would cost 80 pounds sterling (104 dollars).
The court heard that when the man left, Walker took the money from the teenager, who went to shower.
“The complainant was surprised to discover that the defendant had arranged for another man to have sex with her that day,” the prosecutor added.
The same thing happened with the second man, half an hour of sex and another 80 pounds (104 dollars). The young woman wanted to stop and said she felt distressed. Walker's response was sharp: “It's simple, you'll get used to it.”
That day, Walker forced her to sleep with seven men, one after another.
Another day, she slept with up to 12 of Walker's own clients, one after another, and then four or five other men assigned to the escort because she “didn't feel well enough” to serve them herself.
The young woman lasted about two weeks in Walker's hands, during which time she slept with more than 30 men and earned about £3,000 ($3,933). The escort for her part would be left with a slice of 700 pounds (917 dollars).
The judge in the case Robert Spragg said that Walker's performance had caused a “significant impact” on the minor, adding that since what happened he “has found it difficult to get on with his life, as he often finds himself thinking about it, is ashamed of it and it will undoubtedly have a lasting effect on a girl who was already in trouble.”
The court heard that Walker has mental health problems and PTSD as a result of abusive past relationships.
Judge Spragg said his mental health problems reduced but did not extinguish his guilt for the crime.
For her part, the escort's defense said that Walker was unaware that the teenager was only 16 years old and that for her she was only “helping a friend who wanted to do the same job”.
Walker was sentenced to 16 months in prison, suspended for two years, with rehabilitation requirements and 120 hours of unpaid work.
