President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) reiterated that his government does not allow the law to be violated or endorsed “any of the scourges of the old politics of the old regime” such as cronyism, influentism, nepotism, corruption or impunity; at the same time he attacked journalist Carlos Loret de Mola and businessman Claudio X. González “or all these dishonest, immoral people who want to make us muddy.”
When questioned at this Friday's morning conference at the Palacio Nacional by the case of the Tamaulipas deputy, Úrsula Salazar Mujica, newly appointed with Morena coordinator in the state Congress and who - through an audio released on social networks - asked a supplier for a “moche”; the federal president admitted that she is his niece, but assured that she continues to maintain her stance of zero impunity and corruption.
- Have you asked for information about it yet? the reporter asked him.
“No, but you know what my position is, don't you? Zero impunity, not allowing anyone to violate the law and not allow any of the scourges of the old policy of the old regime: no cronyism, no influentism, no nepotism, no corruption or impunity, whoever it is. Nothing outside the law and no one above the law. Then it can be a relative, close, distant, any citizen who commits a crime has to be punished. That is my position,” he stressed.
“In this case I have been seeing it in the media, she is indeed a niece, because she is the daughter of a cousin-sister, that is, the grandmother of this deputy is called Ursula, that was my grandmother's name.. the grandmother of this deputy and my mothers were sisters... that is, her mother is my cousin, but if I see her on the street I don't identify her, I don't have relationships in nothing. I probably have photos with her, of course because of my tours to Tamaulipas and so on, but no, there is no relationship. And besides, it cannot be summarily judged, it must be proved first; and second, there should be no impunity for anyone,” he assured.
López Obrador compared the case of his niece with that of his son José Ramón, assuring that Loret de Mola “and all those gangsters” want to deceive and confuse the population.
“It's a bit about José Ramón and Loret and all these gangsters, wanting to cheat, confuse, because he is 40 years old, he gets married, he joins... his wife worked in Houston (Texas, USA), they go there to live, they rent a house and make the big report because the house is like the ones used by the 'fifis', which has a pool. Well, it's a rented house... ah, but what do they add to it? , that the owner of the house worked in an oil company to which we gave excess contracts. Then there is a conflict of interest. Well, I don't know the oil company nor do I ever give instructions to give preference to someone. I'm not corrupt... and then Loret thinks I'm like him or Claudio X. González, or all these dishonest, immoral people who want to muddy us,” he said.
“But things are going out, aren't they?... to be an opponent you need to have moral authority, it is very difficult for a corrupt person to face a government, they make it dust and I have endured, resisted, because I have a shield that is my honesty, which is what I consider most important in my life. That's why I came out, as the poet said, I got out unharmed... and they did not go strong and couldn't. I also have my court, which is my conscience, which is the one that matters most to me (...)”, he insisted.
López Obrador assured that when you have a clear conscience “you can be very happy and face any adversity.”
“(...) So how is it that a corrupt man like that, at the height of cynicism, wants to position himself as a judge. Now I am waiting for him to respond (Loret de Mola) where are the 13 departments he has and where his apartment is located in the US and 'who pompo' and I am not going to let any of this go by and it is not because of encono, it is that it is a very good opportunity to clarify stops, to make this public, they are very important issues. It's a very good opportunity to clarify stops, to make this public... these are very important issues,” he said.
He assured that all matters of corruption should continue to be aired “no matter who it is. Let's think that nothing has hurt Mexico more than dishonesty, than political corruption,” he concluded.
