Damián Zepeda Vidales, senator of the National Action Party (PAN), warned that the electoral reform proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) will not win votes from the blue and white bench, however, he considered four conditions under which the parliamentary group could approve the initiative.

According to the senator, if the federal president intends to carry out the reform in electoral matters, which proposes, among other things, the election of magistrates and judges of the National Electoral Institute (INE) and the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF), the purpose of “ strengthen democracy”.

For this reason, Zepeda Vidales indicated that the initiative would have the support of Acción Nacional if the costs of the elections are reduced, there is greater freedom of expression in the country, and “better representation”.
