Twitter users found Colombian presidential candidate Gustavo Petro the “perfect double”: he is Mexican, punker and sings protest music

He is one of the vocalists of Zona Roja, a band that has accompanied the protests held in Colombia with their songs

The Internet found the “perfect double” to the presidential candidate of the Historical Pact, Gustavo Petro. This was recorded in a video that is already circulating massively on social networks showing 'Kiko', a Mexican punk performer who, netizens say, is identical to the other Colombian senator.

The artist, who has become known in the land of jalapeño for his protest songs and performs his songs in the band Zona Roja, did not hesitate to speak out about the resemblance that Twitter users found him to the leader of Human Colombia.

Kiko is a native of the city of Puebla and, in dialogue with Mexican media La Jornada, he commented on his similarities with the presidential candidate, who is currently leading the voting intention for the elections that will define Iván Duque's successor.

Moreover, faithful to his revolutionary principles, the same ones he evokes in his songs, the singer referred to the electoral process that Colombia is going through and left a message about it. “Voting is just that, a transfer of our capacity to the few to govern the many. I am convinced of the benefits of self-organization, that people take the resolution of their issues into their own hands,” Kiko told La Jornada.

The video comparing the interpreter with the former mayor of Bogotá went viral since last weekend, when the band Zona Roja performed in Tehuacán, one of the sectors of Puebla and interpreted the phrase “Rebellion is life, submission is death”.

Kiko was seen there, with Petro's distinctive glasses, or at least very similar; in addition, netizens assured that they do the same hair and would even have the same gestures. Judge for yourself the resemblance between Gustavo Petro and the Mexican vocalist.

The previous song, called 'Repressed Truths', was iconic during several of the demonstrations that Colombia experienced during the national strike in 2021. That's why, when Zona Roja shared a poster promoting their upcoming staging, Colombians didn't let Kiko's resemblance to Petro go unnoticed.

“Peace, Rebellion and Anarchism”, was read in the advertising spread by the Mexican group consisting of both Kiko, as well as Kakunin (drums), Akim (voice), Rofus (bass) and Panchito (guitar).

For now, Gustavo Petro has not addressed the subject. However, this situation reminds the namesake that the presidential candidate has with a character from Brazil whose name is the same as him. This is the journalist and gamer Gustavo Petró (with a mark at the end), who is constantly mistaken for the leader of Human Colombia and has won expletives and even compliments on Twitter.

For months now, several Internet users have made various publications in which they blame Petro for everyday situations with the phrase “Petro, enough is enough”. In these posts there are everything from funny memes and images, to harsh insults and negative comments against the congressman.

However, in these publications, many of them fall into the mistake of labeling the journalist Petró and not the controversial progressive senator. The confusion of Twitter users is not difficult, because the user of the former mayor of Bogotá on the social networks is @petrogustavo and that of the communicator is @gustavopetro.
