Peruvian Tony Succar is experiencing a great moment after being nominated for the 2022 Grammy Awards for his album 'Live in Peru', which was recorded in 2020 in our country. The percussionist will fight for an award in the category of 'Best Latin Tropical Album' alongside great exponents of Latin music.
As you remember, on March 23, 2021, through Instagram, Succar surprised by sharing a series of clips where he confirmed his nomination with emotion. “I can't believe it, thank you all very much,” he said as he jumped for joy on that occasion.
It should be noted that Succar's album will compete against great pieces of music such as “Salswing” by Rubén Blades and Roberto Delgado & Orquesta, which is shaping up to be the favorite after taking the 'Album of the Year' in the 22nd edition of the Latin Grammy.

Likewise, “Quarantine” of El gran combo de Puerto Rico was also nominated to win a precious golden gramophone, one of the most desired awards by world-class artists.

“Without Salsa, there is no paradise” by Aymée Nuviola is another album that is nominated in this category, along with Gilberto Santa Rosa's “Collegas”, so Tony Succar will not have it any single.

It should be noted that this is not the first time that the Peruvian musician has received recognition, since in 2019 he was nominated for the Latin Grammy, where he took two statuettes. This is the first time that the artist will compete in the main gala.
OTHER PERUVIAN ARTISTS WHO WERE NOMINATED FOR THE GRAMMY
It is important to emphasize that he is not the only Peruvian to have achieved this important Grammy Award nomination. Three representatives have reached this instance in previous years, in which it is considered the most important prize in the world of music, such as Susana Baca, the Peruvian Negro cultural association and the Afro-Peruvian JazzOrchesta band. Unfortunately, none of them won the long-awaited prize, but the Peruvian could change history.
ABOUT “LIVE IN PERU”, ALBUM THAT COULD WIN A GRAMMY
Tony Succar is nominated for his album “Live in Peru”, a concert recorded live at the Teatro Nacional in February 2020 and which features different versions of “Billie Jean”, “A puro dolor”, “Uptown Funk” and many more. This production had to go through several changes to be accepted by the members of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States.
“This album has 19 songs because I played a lot of songs from 'Unity' (album released in 2015). It was my chance to bring that repertoire, obviously I re-recorded it live to make it different. Now he was able to qualify because he had songs in Spanish, I balanced it so that he could enter,” he said.
