The case of a father in Texas, United States, who kept the body of his dead son in the kitchen for almost four years, has the authorities appalled.

According to a police statement, officers learned about this after a person called to request a welfare check on a “male subject” in South New Boston.

When officers arrived at the home on March 29, police say they contacted the father of the person who requested welfare check. The man, identified as David McMichael, was questioned by the agents if he knew the reasons for his visit and he, surprisingly, replied that “it was because he had a body in his kitchen”.

McMichael, 67, also told police that the body belonged to his son, who had died in May 2018.

Then the cops entered the house to verify the owner's confession and indeed found male bone remains inside, in the kitchen area.

Authorities arrested McMichael and locked him up in Bi-State jail on a charge of “abuse of a corpse”.

After receiving a search warrant, investigators determined that the human remains are possibly Jason McMichael's.

The body was taken to the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas for positive identification. The police did not provide the age of the victim and the cause of death and David's reasons for keeping the remains of his son in his kitchen have not yet been revealed.

The investigation is ongoing. New Boston is about 250 kilometers northeast of Dallas, the state capital, and just west of the Arkansas border.
